Favorite Dominion Card(s)

I'm assuming this isn't a new topic idea, but I thought I'd make one after reading Tombolo's thread. I'm also assuming that Qvist is going to post the "Favorite Cards" thread, so it'll be interesting to compare.

I actually have 2 Favorite cards, Lighthouse and Baron.

I love cards that make unwanted cards good to have, so I like Baron. It's also one of the first cards I played with.

It's probably not the best idea every game, but I like buying many Lighthouses. It's a simple yet effective card that can really shine in certain games.

I also like NV because of the mega turns you can pull off with it  ;D

What are your favorite cards and why?

As my RL friends will tell you, I have often been known to say "Errrrbody's favorite card is Goons!"

I always buys lots of Lighthouses.

But for favorite card, I have to go with Pirate Ship.  So much fun!

EDIT: Also, to ninja Robz, he likes Scout.

Definitely Fishing Village.

I always have to persuade myself not to buy it sometimes.

Ugh. I am one counterexample to this assertion. Goons and Governor tie for my least favorite card because going for them is nearly always the winning strategy.

My favorite cards are probably Counting House, Mine, and Explorer. I'd like to get better at using Mandarin as well.

EDIT: Actually, my all-time favorite power card is probably Masquerade. I probably overbuy it quite a bit, and I used to play way too many Masquerade/BM decks.

I love a lot of cards... but favorites among favorites :
- Menagerie : So fun to play with variety, so satisfying to reveal a hand with no duplicates.
- HoP : For the same reasons
- Island.
- All alt VP, especially silk road
- Baron. Original way to use estates
- Coppersmith. To impress the noobs.

Gotta be Menagerie.

Honorable mentions to Bishop, Remake, Festival, Bazaar, Hamlet, Vineyard, Scrying Pool, and (for sentimental reasons more than actually being good) Transmute.

I do love Mine, and Counting House has been growing on me.  I try to work it into my strategy where possible.

Oh, to be clear, I'm not actually a fan of goons. And usually when I say it, it's very sarcastic, like "oh gee, what am I going to do this turn? GOOOOONSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! Errbody's favorite card is Goons!" Oh yeah, there's a reason I stopped saying that so often....

Eh, Scout is one of those power cards that almost makes the game not fun to play. It's like, damn Scout, would you let some other strategies have a chance?

My favorite card is Silk Road. I don't ever play with Scout anymore. Too game breakingly good. I would rather my opponent started with Possession in his deck than ever have the option of buying a dreaded Scout!

On a side note, I also really like Governor, Haggler, Duke, Masquerade, Nobles, Scrying Pool and Crossroads.

Why would your favorite card be Bureacrat?  I like what it does, but since it's buyable in less than five percent of the games it appears in, it doesn't improve my experience much.

I'd say less than 5% is over/understating it a bit. I probably buy Bureaucrat in 10%-15% of games it's in.

Your favorite card doesn't have to be good, just fun to play with

I really enjoy both alt-VP and trashing strategies, to the point that I will bend over backwards trying to make that kind of strategy work, even if there are other, clearly more favourable options.

So obviously my favourite card is Bishop.  It does both!  The first time I bought a Peddler for $0 and then trashed it for 5VP, ah, that was sweet nectar.  Mmmm....

Also, if there's even a remote chance to make Tunnel work, I will grab Tunnels.  After all, the longer the odds to make it pay out, the more satisfying when it does... or if there's a way to cash them a preposterous number of times (i.e. Golem with only one unspent Action card), that's fun too.  There was a game where the only discarding option was Farming Village, so of course I had to open Tunnel/Farming Village. It worked on the third run through the deck... so happy! :-)

There is nothing more satisfying than Islanding a Province. Nothing.

Also Bishop, any alt VP, and Thief. Yes, Thief. Try it in 4P. It's wonderful.

Easily embargo, on any board that has even the remote possibility for multiple strategies.

I'm going with the alchemist.  Especially in games where an herbalist is available.  When I get to the point where my hand is pretty much always potion+alchemist+alchemist+alchemist+alchemist plus two more alchemists on top of the deck, I can just lay them all down, draw like 12 more cards, and go from there.  And then I get to do it all over again next turn!

Though Islanding a Colony comes close.  :-)

Remodel is probably my favourite card, I usually go for it. I love to remodel Golds into Provinces and then lose because I burnt all my money too early. Library and Adventurer are close runners-up.

Just for info: The compiled list is now updated: Your Favourite Cards Edition 2

For me the problem in naming the favourite card is:
I like thematical cards with a unique mechanic, but they are often swingy which I don't like. Examples: Treasure Map, Tournament, etc.
Cards I like to play with (often because I think I can play with them well) are not necessarily thematic: My Top 3: Scheme, Highway, Watchtower.
Cards I ranked relatively high but not so many of you did: Embargo, Vault and Sifters like Cellar and Cartographer.
