Nothing gets to be on-buy anymore. It's being phased out everywhere, due to casual players not understanding the distinction between buying and gaining.

And, even for players who understand the distinction, it can be confusing how the timing of on-buy and on-gain effects differ.

Well that’s fixable by making them both happen after the gain.

Collection + Stampede
Yup, will make games quite stupid. Would Collection suck if on-buy?

Will the removal of Trade Route make it possible for you to design cards that add coin tokens (coffers/villagers/favors?) to Supply piles? I think that you mentioned this limitation in the The Secret History of Dominion: Guilds.

Thank you! that's exactly what I'm looking for! Making sure, the first page has all the most recent cards?

For my set, yes. I'm not 100% sure New World is up-to-date, but you could ask in that thread.

Well, not to toot my own horn, but here's my expansion: Enterprise

Almost all of the cards have gotten quite a bit of testing, but I also give an out-of-5 stars rating for how confident I am in each card (based on amount and quality of testing).

I'll also give a shout-out to X-tra, who makes great fan cards. Here's one of his sets: New World

I often test with Gubump and crlundy as well, though I don't think either of them has a thread with a full expansion right now. I may be wrong.

I remember you!

I don't know if there's a good resource for catching up, other than the wiki.

http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/index.php/Second_Edition

The second editions of the Base Set and Intrigue came out after Empires. Seaside Second Edition came out about a week ago, with Prosperity Second Edition previews happening soon. Each second edition removes a bunch of cards (mostly duds but some oppressive cards) and adds new ones in their place.

The Steam version has the advantage of not overheating your phone or draining its battery like crazy.

86
Though he didn’t say *which* fall.

Fall 2022 is the planned release.

87
As Donald X. has said elsewhere, the publisher makes these sorts of announcements. But for second editions in particular there aren't likely to be announcements until quite late. You see the second editions couldn't be made until the stock of the first editions sold out. And if people knew about the second edition happening, that might slow or prevent that stock from running out.

To answer your question as best I can, there's been no news of second editions coming out soon beyond Seaside and Prosperity.

Patrol should have just been Scout with +$2, costing $5 (and possibly picking up Curses). That way you get to make use of the deck-ordering way more easily. But no, it was too similar to Minion then. Never mind that Minion should have been cut.

Fall expansion!

Y'know, assuming not too many delays.

According to the german promotional photo, Island, Native Village, and its mats are confirmed to stay.
Also one of the replacement cards is going to be an Action-Duration-Reaction, called "Piratin" (female pirate) as seen here.

The mats are also confirmed by Donald's 3rd preview post, as Island and NV still refer to them.

The three mats form a complete image. I wonder if a third of that image is removed or the two remaining mats have new art.

No new art. The Pirate Ship mat is just missing.

If a Corsair is in play, does the first played Silver or Gold by another player have any effect before it is trashed? Do you still get the $2 or $3, or is it just immediately trashed with no effect?

You get the effect after you've trashed the treasure.

I didn't realize before reading that question that Corsair uses a weird wording. There's no "when". I guess "each other player trashes the first Silver or Gold they play each turn" is supposed to be read as "when each other player plays their first Silver or Gold each turn, they first trash it"?

There's no implicit "first". By default, "when" means "after". First you put the Silver or Gold into play, then you get the +Coins from it, then you trash it.

Sad to see Explorer go (massively undervalued card)

If Pirate didn't also gain Treasures to hand, possibly Explorer might have stayed and e.g. Merchant Ship could have been cut instead. But how many Gold gainers does one set need? So in this case a card that left was somewhat a function of the new cards added.

I will also miss Explorer.

Adventurer would probably work with just a reduced cost; I think I'd try it at $4 (or even $3); this might make it a reasonable BM card (in engines, it's still usually worse than Moat).
I think Adventurer should cost $2, no joke. It takes a lot of work to make it good, like Poor House. Arguably it takes even more work than Poor House, though the upper bound on its power is also higher. Anyway, yeah, $2. That's my unofficial official recommendation.

I've finally tried to estimate Adventurer's strength if it cost $2, playing with it in a few IRL solo games. The result was that $2-Adventurer BM takes 13 turns to get 4 Provinces on average, and 15 turns to get 5 Provinces.

(In those games, it wouldn't have mattered if it cost $3 instead, since I never happened to have a $2 turn.)

This is better than Smithy-BM, which averages 14 turns to 4 Provinces according to the Wiki. Does someone know how many turns stronger (non-Attack) BM cards need to get 4 or 5 Provinces?

I've also tried a few solo games of $2 Adventurer+Spice Merchant BM, since I expected SM to be one of the best supporting Action cards for Adventurer. But surprisingly, this strategy took slightly longer to get to 4 resp. 5 Provinces than $2 Adventurer-BM alone...

Huh, that's interesting! Stronger than I expected, but maybe not crazy? Or maybe it needs to cost $4. Of course probably it just shouldn't exist at any cost, since it seems to really only work in money decks.

Sea Chart is another brand new card that interacts with the 2nd from the top card of your deck. I would revise to:

Sea Chart
Action - $3
+1 Action
Reveal the top card of your deck and put it in your hand. If it's a copy of a card you have in play, +1 Card

I think that might have been tested? I'm not certain.

So what's the deal with the mats? Are Island and Native Village mats being re-drawn to look like they should only have 2 mats? The german promotional image/spoiler shows the other 2 mats with their original artwork. But Pirate Ship was the middle of the 3!

If you never knew about Pirate Ship, I doubt most people would realize there was ever a third mat in between them. It seems nonsensical to create new art to solve what doesn't seem to be a problem.

I'll miss the triptych as well, but rare was the game that actually used all three mats.

What surprises me the most is that now Seaside, the 3rd set, has a way to play Action cards (and Night cards) in your buy phase. I guess it's not that much of a problem rules-wise, but I've always seen that as at least a 12th set thing, potentially confusing to newer players. But I'm sure Donald knows what he's doing!

It's definitely confusing for new players. It's especially difficult to explain that they can't play drawn Treasures. It would be nice if there were a Treasure phase and a Buy phase, but sadly that's not the case. And honestly I don't know how much it would help anyway.

98
Do cards that can replay themselves without moving qualify?

For example:

If it weren't so far from April 1st, I'd suspect ClouduHieh was trolling us. Honestly I'm still not sure that isn't the case.
