[OOC] Stealth Ace is irrelevant since I noticed nothing else apparently. I'm just super good at noticing nothing sneakily.[/OOC]

"Friends, look to the sky.  I believe I felt the passing of a bird of some size.  The sounds came from above."
"Let us keep moving.  Perhaps, it will leave us alone for we are many."
...
(Excepting if you all decide to do otherwise)  Grant catches up with the party.

[OOC] I'll get to this tomorrow. This past week has been such a crazy one that I haven't had the energy to do anything that requires thinking. Waking hours ranging from 3:00am to 6:00am and back again, nights that require me to be up from 10:00pm - 7:00am, too often times to go to sleep exceeding 2:00am... And none of it consistent. My internal clock is all out of whack, and more than anything, I'm exhausted.

Still, starting tomorrow, things go back to what one might call a semblance of normalcy. So after a good long sleep, I'll "Catch back up" with you all. In the meantime, don't feel like you need Grant's report (if any) to keep meaningful conversation going. ;) [/OOC]

Jimmy isn't ecstatic about this excursion and spends the trip complaining and looking nervously into the sky to try and see the bird everyone is talking about.

"I got a bad feeling about this you guys. I hope this is worth it. It'd be a shame for me to die face down in some backwoods without anything to show for it."

Grant stepped out from behind the rock he had placed between himself and the direction of the train from which he'd come. He had held up for ten minutes to make sure nobody was following him, but the darkness and silence stretched out around him. Nothing. Sighing to himself,  he tucked one Tomahawk into it's strap, and slipped his knife down his boot. His second Tomahawk he held across his lap as he mounted his horse. No need to be foolhardy...

...It took Grant longer than he would've hoped for to find his companions. His first stop was to make his way back to where they had been attacked by Bass and his men. Grant took a few moments to speak with Jeb, who was left working on the carriage, before setting out North again. Grant told Jeb of everything he had seen by the train, but Jeb sat quietly by, working away, and not saying much back.

As Grant mounted back up, he looked once more in Jeb's direction "You got real nervous after Bass's attack when it came to talk about the Iron Dragon. Seemed you wanted to move out real quick. Now, I may be new to these parts, but I know a scared man when I see one. If these men in their ceremonial armor pose some sort of threat to us, we need to know. Running away or pretending they aren't there won't do us any good if they come with knives and guns while we sleep. When we get back Jeb, I'm gonna want answers about what're we dealing with here."... And with that, Grant set back off.

He was cold, and still edgy from the invasion of his nightmares, but after riding for twenty minutes, the light of his companions started to shimmer and grow brighter on the horizon in front of him. He pushed his horse a little harder and rode on...

... Finally Grant trotted into the clearing that found his companions waiting for him. Jimmy was riding atop one of the other horses, and the others were standing on the ground tending their own horses or making preparations for the events to come. "Jimmy! Friends! Grant called out as he approached, "How go things here? How much further off is the ambush site?"

"What'd you see Grant?"

Turning to Jimmy, Grant answered him as best he could, making sure to speak loud enough for the others to overhear: "I still don't know exactly what's going on down by the train, but it's not natural. They shouldn't be here, and they don't want anybody knowing that they are."

Grant continued on to relate to Jimmy what he had seen down by the train: The large stacks of Boxes, Crates, and Barrels that were being unloaded and stacked; The four Martial Artists that stood guard; The Swordsmen that stood lookout in a strange and foreign ceremonial armor; And a final pair of men who stood, Winchesters in hand. Grant also noted that none of the company looked all that pleased about being there.

"Unfortunately, while I did get the chance to move in even closer, my attempts to see what was inside the crates and barrels proved fruitless. They were locked tight, and there didn't appear to be any markings on the side. I didn't know how much longer I could press my luck and I wanted to make sure I caught back up with you all before you arrived at the ambush site, so I left it all behind. Sorry to say, I don't know what any of it means though."

Looking out once more at the collected group, Grant asked if any of them had heard anything or recognized anything from his report. Without waiting for a reply, Grant climbed down off the back of his horse, and began to tend to him, making sure he was well rested after their little adventure.

[OOC]Hmm...that's a little awkward...I should have included some comments from Jeb earlier (I just kind of forgot about him once Sky Hawk showed up), but he and Danny are staying with the stagecoach to get things fixed up.  Jeb is not interested in venturing out at all, trains, indians, whatever.  His goal is to get the stagecoach moving, though he let's you guys borrow a couple horses with promises to bring them back.

Anyways, obviously that makes several of your comments not really apply, but let me know if it actively changes anything.[/OOC]

[OOC]Apparently the delirium of Grant's nightmares stays with him longer than we thought/ ;D

So who all is riding out with Sky Hawk to the ambush site? How many horses were there? Anyway, it doesn't really change much I suppose. Let me try and restructure my above post without changing the content too much.[/OOC]

"They were definitely Iron Dragon though? That's a relief," Jimmy says visibly brightening.

"No witches on my trail yet, so that's a relief," he thinks to himself.

"If they were unloading goods, it stands to reason that someone must be picking those goods up. Sam and his men certainly didn't seem like the type who could get a shipment of the size you're describing from the Iron Dragon, especially if they sound as exotically armed as you described, Grant. Maybe one of the tribes out here is gearing up for war, and has something the Iron Dragon wants to trade for some weapons?"

Sky Hawk turns at this, "Such weapons are outlawed in the Sioux Nations.  If they are being used by Indians, I would suspect Ravenites...but what would they have that the Dragon would want?  And how are they organized enough to retrieve it?  Perhaps the Dragon itself is gearing up for war?"  He looks around, "We are beginning to get close, we should become quiet.  And put out the light, unless we want to alert our enemy to our presence.  We can talk later."  He ties his horse to a nearby tree branch and climbs to the top of a ridge.

[OOC: they get a surprise round]
The cries from before come back, only this time they are suddenly very loud.  As you spin to face them, they are already on top of you, in the starlight, you can make out very little.  A large dark shape, with small malevolent red glowing eyes.  You catch a glint of light here and there as you see their sharp claws and teeth.  There is one for each member of the posse, and their claws grasp at your shoulders as they fly past.

[OOC]
They have the drop, granting them +4 to attack/damage.  They don't suffer darkness penalties.
