Seems likely this may have been discussed already, but how do you play a Kingdom made up of what people generally consider all weak cards?

Any suggestions for card replacement?

My best guess... open Silver/Chancellor. Play basic big money, choosing Explorer over Silver until you have 2 Explorers. Always take Pearl Diver with $2.

Forgot about Transmute. I had Saboteur in there at first, but replaced it with Counting House. Pirate ship is #44 out of 53 in the best $4 cards list... Bureaucrat is #45.

People obviously didn't read the How to use Bureaucrat in Dominion guide, and then they didn't know how to use it. That's the only possible explanation for the most powerful card in Dominion having such low win rates.

On topic and on a serious note: I don't think Pearl Diver belongs in the kingdom. Sure, it's a weak card, but it's not a bad card. Rats could possibly fit in there, as there is zero support for it in the kingdom.

Well I wasn't trying to create a Kingdom where you wouldn't want to buy any of the Kingdom cards... that definitely has been discussed, and would look more like Golem and a bunch of Villages. I was just taking the 10 weakest cards overall and sticking them together in a Kingdom. I would say Rats is as a whole a stronger card than Pearl Diver.

In a big money deck you can pick any of chancellor, explorer, or adventurer to give you an edge. If they can hit 4 provinces in 14 turns then that's competitive. It's not particularly exciting but neither is playing witch+treasure, ghost ship+treasure, jack+treasure, and so on.

Of course, with 3+ players Thief and Pirate Ship probably shouldn't be included, since they are considerably better in those games.

Why would Adventurer be a counter to Thief or Pirate Ship? Adventurer isn't virtual money; it still needs treasure.

Um....  you can't go Adventurer because of Pirate Ship/Thief.  You certainly don't want to go BM with those two out.  And I'd also say you don't want to go Thief because of Pirate Ship...

Seems like a lot of wasted buys. I mean, how often do you have exactly $2?
With $3 I think Silver is still better than either of those two...

Might that depend on how well-defended you are against Pirate Ships, though?

If you've got opponents going heavy Pirate Ships, I can see letting them clear out some of your Copper, getting Secret Chambers to block and Pearl Divers to buffer future Pirate attacks, and then picking up a few more Silver... in this case Adventurer could be good, actually, maybe?

I still think it's better to just go PS yourself than to invest so many turns trying to defend. It's not hard for PS to get to €3 even with defense, so that's already terminal gold.

But he had 5/2. Explorer is really good here, so open Pearl Diver/Explorer and get Islands later.

Makes sense.  I'd prefer Smugglers to Workshop, I think, as 2nd player.  Cash seems important, though, with a 4/3 open.

This is what I did, and basically played Explorer / Island / Pearl Diver / Festival. I lost the game on the Island split, even though I was up a Duchy.
