That's quite a list Qvist.

Of those, Power Grid looks very viable to me (board only ever adds things, so should be easy enough to do in paint). Space Alert and Galaxy Trucker are real time games, but now you've mentioned them I feel vindicated to shoehorn them into PBF :D (I'm still not going to, don't worry). Flash Point has a simple enough board I reckon it could be done in Excel, and is a game that interests me to boot. The rest of those I don't know well enough.

I've started up a 7 Wonders PBF, and I think that I might start up either BSG, Flash Point, Power Grid or perhaps one other, maybe next week. As for everything else, I leave the invite to others to rise up and run them.

But not strictly better, because the spinoff can have a different cost than the expansion.

Yeah, I can't ever see Space Alert as PBF. It could be a fun real-time online game. Probably be even more disastrous than real life, because you have to type your communications. But hey, a communication outage would be quite real.

Galaxy Trucker, of course, has the time issue, but I know some people on BGG have proposed variants where ship building is based on turns. Not everyone likes the time crunch. If someone can find one of these variants that works, then it could become a forum game.  That's definitely intriguing.

Flash Point I have not played. I'd probably sign up just to learn more about it.

Isn't Spaceteam for iOS supposed to be similar to Space Alert, i.e., time-pressured co-op?

I'd like to give Flash Point Fire Rescue a whirl.

I am really interested in "Android: Netrunner" and "Lord of the Rings : LCG", but have no idea how well they would work as PBF.

I don't know exactly how it would be with Android: Netrunner, but LotR:LCG would work decent over PBF, but Deck Building doesn't work well with actual cards, so I guess we could take predefined decks and I don't find 2-player games over forum pretty interesting honestly. I think it would be pretty similar with Android: Netrunner. But if anyone wants to host it, I see no problem.

My personal experience with LotR:LCG. I played the base game solo a couple of times and it's soooo hard solo. Not that I don't mind hard games, but it's so frustrating. You could do so well and then there comes up exactly that card you screws up everything and basically you just lost because of dreadful shuffle luck. I think it's a pretty good game and I think if you play it with 2 players it might work, but playing solo is so frustrating and it wasn't delightful to play anymore for me.

Take Eowyn.  ;)

I haven't beaten the third mission. The first is pretty easy if you take Eowyn the quest monster.
The punishment of losing a card is pretty harsh in single player though.

Basically any co-op I find harder with one or even two players (Forbidden Island) because of the limited card space.

The reason I wanted to play Flash Point is because I have a copy, but have yet to play it.

I would be in on Power Grid, of course. Most of the others listed I think I'll watch to learn first. Already covered a lot of new games this past week, and I want to focus more on really learning those games before I try to throw more new ones in.

I'd be happy to run Power Grid and play in BSG or Flash Point.  I'll work on getting things together to run a Power Grid game.

I always liked the theme of Android, but the two times we brought the behemoth out, we couldn't even finish the game. For one, it took us over an hour to set the damn thing up.

I don't remember enough of the rules to say for sure if it'd be a good PBF game. The forums would be a good way to explore the story side of the game, though, since part of the game involves trying to get your character out of the "might as well commit suicide" stage and into the "I'm a useful member of society" stage. The puzzle portion probably requires Photoshop, though.

A friend of mine has contributed his copy to my math trade. If nobody takes me up on it, I may hang onto it and see just how it'll work for PBF. Though, I think it'd be easier to mod Red November.

Like Through the Ages, Android has a pretty major commitment requirement that prevents it from seeing the gaming table in our group.

I love that game, and would love to play it more (have only played 1 1/2 times). However, I think it's totally unfit for forum play.
Reasons:
1) Movement: You pretty much cant check where you can go with those cool cars without the board and the arc.
2) Interrupts: After every single step you make, there's the possibility that someone might be able to play a card that stops you from doing what you want to do.

I hadn't put much thought into the car arcs. That would require developing a spread sheet to track which locations are in range of a specific car.

I don't recall enough about the game to remember the interrupts. Point taken.

I am just reading this thread for the first time just now. No wonder my game filled up so fast!

Flash Point has a simple enough board I reckon it could be done in Excel,

But that'd be cheating!

Just looking at Qvist's list and I just wanted to say that I think Galaxy Trucker is impossible in a forum setting. The ship building part of the game is too time sensitive. It's supposed to take place in about 5-10 minutes while everyone simultaneously flips pieces and tries to fit them the best, the fastest.

However, I would be really interested in playing Eclipse, which I haven't played before, but when I watched a review of the game I thought to myself, that doesn't look any more complex than TTA. I couldn't mod it, but I'd love to play.

I think Agricola could work as a PBF. However, there are already sites where you can play asynchronous Agricola, so it might make more sense to have a sign up here, then actually play on the other site.

I'm working on a spreadsheet for Terra Mystica, but have lots to do in the next month, so don't expect it to be ready in the next 4 weeks.

Terra Mystica Spreadsheet is ready, I really shouldn't start the game in the next 2 weeks though.

Tokaido seems like a good fit.

It's a bit like 7 Wonders and pretty self regulatory.
