Interesting... how are you able to mine the logs for that info now?

there is a log of all past leaderboards which you can find here. you can also find that link if you check out the isotropic link on the wiki.

i simply looked at yesterdays to see how many games otto played and then looked for a corresponding level drop. the people doing this really aren't all that clever. simply mixing in another accounts, not doing the jump all in one day, or having the alt you are beating up on win a few other games would have made it harder to figure things out.

Do you have any info about how he got to level 40? It would seem strange for a player good enough to play a lot and hit 40 to then suddenly decide to cheat to jump to the top.

well it is very possible they are a decent player, but i doubt they were a 40. the first day otto seems to be on the leaderboard is oct 24 as a lvl 34 which is totally reasonable. just switched names from something else presumably.

similarly, the 111111 account makes a few suspicious jumps as well though, and only appears on the leaderboard nov 1.

my guess is that there is a 3rd dummy account (maybe more?) involved. it isn't hard for a level 30 player to run a new account to level 20 or so in a night or two of work. then have your second account beat up on that one so it hits 30+ and so on.

Yep, chain accounts together.. get one account up a few levels, create a new account and beat that first account soundly 30 games in a row.. create a new account and beat that second account 30 games in a row.. create a fourth account and beat that third account 30 games in a row.. repeat ad nauseum.

I played my first game of Dominion on December 25th, 2011.

In March 2012 I discovered DominionStrategy.com and began playing (a lot) on isotropic.

I entered the isodom tournament and got resoundingly crushed.

In April I played in the first "One Day Cup" and surprised the hell out of myself (and a lot of others) by winning.

This past spring I flew to Detroit to play in a regional tournament to try to qualify for Nationals. I made it to the final table, but lost on a single terrible draw.

Then I entered the DS.com qualifying tournament. It took me three tries in prelims to qualify for semi finals. Then I won semis and qualified for the 'controversial' finals. I tied for second, only to have the first place drop out. Whereupon I won the playoff and went to Nationals.

At Nationals I tied for first in the prelims, but then lost to DonDon in the finals (hint if you go to nationals: Don't play third seat in a Chapel/Village/Torturer match when first player opens 2/5)

Today I have just achieved my proudest achievement: I just hit the Top 10 on the isotrpoic leaderboard.

Granted it's only because my +/- is lower than others because I play too much, but I will take it all the same.

Never would have come close to this without reading this forum religiously (except ironically the religious sub forum)

Now I just need to learn how to play Dark Ages effectively without having to sit through explosions and laser-like sound effects.

Yeahh good luck with that :(

Nice work on the other stuff, I'd like to think I can take ~80% of the credit for it, by letting you crush me in that one day tournament :)

At least. I think that was my first real upset. Shocked a lot of people if I remember correctly.

To be fair I had to poison your food in order to make it happen... Sorry about that.

Now he's rank #9 and level 45 with 101 games. That's awesome.
And does anyone know bhn1? He's level 43 (rank #13) with 451 games. I won against him yesterday 2-1, but seems like an awesome player too. And I never heard of him.

And I tried to play in the last couple of weeks competitively and more often. In 2-3 weeks I went from level 22 to level 33. I'm now in the Top 200. Yeah!
Next goal: Level 35 / Top 150

That says it all.... LEVEL 40!!! Top 50!

When I first made this thread, almost a year ago, I never really though I'd hit 40. Of course, back then no one was 50 and low 40s was the best of the best. But still, this is simply amazing. Over 2100 games... man that's a lot. Well, a lot when compared to lesser amounts of games, not as many when compared to greater amounts of games. Either way, I'm so happy to be here.

Thank you once again to all the members of this forum who have taught me so much since I first joined a little over a year ago. You truly have robbed me of an actual life. :P

Anyway, 40 is where I get off the competitive train. The last few days, working extra hard to get here, were quite stressful! I have no illusions of actually being able to compete with the 50s (though I have beaten both Rabid and Obi Wan at least once each). From now on, I think my games are just going to be with my unregistered account, "Gendo."

7.769 isn't that low. A fair number of people manage 7.x or 8.x. Heck, I'm apparently at 7.951 myself.

But I only see two people on the entire leaderboard below 6!

BTW, does anyone know who "playing twice a day, can i be better than level … " is?

i played bhn1 yesterday and asked. he/she used to go under the name notedloch but switched accounts when iso started acting up when they added an avatar. notedloch was at level 44 as recently as august. i talked with Mundane Mandate too but forget what account they used to be. i think it was Headso.

i am pretty sure uncertainty isn't based just on games played though, it also takes some input from the levels of your opponents.

nope, but they definitely play more than just twice a day.

Yeah, his playstyle and (what little) banter we had were different too, but the WW MM thing still threw me off.
