I'll play as well.

Doesn't this "choose 2 cards" thing further give the next 1p an even larger advantage than normal?  (examples: Treasure Map / Warehouse, Tournament / Ambassador, KC / Bridge, Torturer / $village, $card / chapel?

Just to clarify, you use both "match" and "game" in the explanation of the twist rule. I'm guessing you can use the same card(s) in round 2 that you used in round 1, should you win round 1, yes?

Although the "may choose 2 cards" looks like a fun twist, it actually isn't.

If I were to participate, I'd always choose Sea Hag and Ill-Gotten Gains and know my opponent is screwed in most cases. So this won't result in interesting games at all.

Apart from you can only do that once per match.

What are the odds that this tournament finishes before iso goes down?

I'm in though jonts26 has a good point. If iso goes down could we feasibly finish it in the official release? (assuming we all can run it and are willing to buy it)

The people who could answer your question are keeping mum, so I am operating under the assumption that we will finish.  As Ted Kennedy once said, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Yes, I'll do it once each match and as the tournament progresses everyone will start doing it, creating 2 games in each match that are uninteresting.

I do like the idea of a twist, but make it a different one. Some ideas:

-A few days before the match each player chooses a pre-constructed Kingdom (from the expansions, or one from the dominionstrategy tournament). Both players can then study both Kingdoms and try to find the optimal strategy for that specific Kingdom which is a slightly different skill than deciding a strategy on the spot.
-add one multi-player game to each match (finding volunteers might not be easy or practical). Whoever finishes higher in that game is the winner (the volunteer might actually win that game)
-add one game where the goal isn't to win the game (VP), but to reach one of the Councilroom goals (like "piledriver" or "Oscar the grouch"). Whoever gets it, or gets it first, wins that game.

I'll play if there's still room.

As for the twist, I think it's a mistake. Why give the about-to-be-first-player an even greater advantage? If you're determined to do it, I'd prefer if both players got to pick two cards, with the rest of the kingdom random. And of course it should not be revealed which cards were selected by the other player, and in the event both pick the same card, just add another at random.

I'm interested in playing.  I'm not sure I like the variant, but you never know until you try it right?

I think I will contribute. And I'm not sure about this format too. Just a reminder: The matches won't count for the isotropic level if there are constraints.
When will this start?

Hm that's true, didn't consider that.

I'm unregistering, wasn't a fan of the twist thing anyway.

I would volunteer for this.  Chance to play against the best without the added pressure of a tournament?  Sounds like my cup of tea.

i have a feeling Mean Mr. Mustard might adjust the rules based on the feedback so far.  and for what it's worth, i think dropping out because the games won't count towards rankings is quite silly relative to the earlier comments.  there is a chance that isotropic might not even be around long enough to finish the tournament, at which point the rankings are worthless anyway.

I'm not dropping out just because of the ranking, but that combined with all the other reasons.

I'd like to sign up if there's a spot

Also for really random twist
-add one multi-player game to each match (finding volunteers might not be easy or practical). Whoever finishes higher in that game is the winner (the volunteer might actually win that game)
If we really wanna go bonkers, 2 v 2? The idea that you would need to add both players points to win.  Of course there would be 'friendly fire' and getting people's seatings would be tough (ie. winners going 2nd/4th).  Just thought i'd throw it out there
