Good post Robz, obviusly laying down the arguments for the side you support to make the masons more informed when making their decision is good.

However, you don't think it can be beneficial to see who built cases on confirmed townies and hopped on their wagons or refused to hop on their wagons? I think that's one of the advantages of delaying the claim.

I just don't see myself actually faulting someone for building a case against a confirmed townie, before the person was confirmed town. Maybe they were just trying to be a good scumhunter? The more the ICs try to hide who they are, the weirder they will inadvertently act, anyway. Possibly setting off other pro-town people's scum radars.
Voting for town-aligned players is generally less of a scumtell than refusing to vote for scum-aligned players, true. But, there is still a ton of information to be gained. You know how analysis is always hard until we get a flip? Well, here we can get two whenever we most desire. That might help us PoE to scum.

And we're back. Hi all.

I think we'd be in a fantastic position if the Masons managed to claim after we hit scum. So I was going to suggest that they only claim if they would otherwise be lynched. I guess the problem with that is that one of the Masons could be vengekilled. Maybe if the Masons work out between them a way each of them to convincingly come out as an IC in the event that the other is killed.

And yes, we MUST wait for a claim before hammering, obviously.

Also, I think we should decide that if someone is to claim, they must claim who their partner is. That way, scum can't claim, at least on day 1, because if we have two Masons claim and two scum claim, we win. Maybe this should change if we lose a Townie, I'm not sure.

Theory question.  If the masons claim immediately, this game becomes like the other ones, but with the ic having day chat round one.
Thoughts?

Disclaimer: not claiming that I am not mason, just want to see reaction.

Fos you guys or running one while I was away.

Hmm.. I was not here recently, how did those games fare for town?

But I think that masons are stronger for town, mafia cannot hit them as easily, and if they survive long enough they can win or force a double fakeclaim from mafia?

vote: sparky, cuz he's me nemesis!

1 and 1 for town.  I think the setup is slanted toward town.

Actually (all linked):

Blitz Mafia VI: The Garden of Veterans by ashersky.  8 players.  Mafia wins.
Blitz Mafia V: Return of the Veteran Ship by ashersky.  8 players.  Mafia wins flawlessly.
Blitz Mafia IV: A Veteran Battle of Wits by ashersky.  8 players.  Town wins flawlessly.

I'm with robz on this one.  How did scum win in 6?  Anything notable?

It cant be worse than 50/50 for town per previous math.

What I'm really nervous about is having the masons not claim, and then having one of them be vengekilled.

Robz has some good points, so which is better: having IC's with daychat right off the bat, or keeping the identities of the masons a secret in the hopes of mafia hitting a VT and having the masons alive (which they will be REALLY powerful at that point)? I was leaning towards the latter, plus what Eevee mentioned about seeing who builds wagons on confirmed townies is a very good point.

I mean, they claim now, we have two innocent children and they have daychat. Little bit better than a plain 3VT 2IC setup. But we can make some intriguing developments later if we leave their identities alone. If one gets close to being lynched, they can always claim then.

I haven't read the other games, so I don't know what went on in there, so my opinion probably matters less  ;D

I think we wrongly lynched Cuzz for lurking. Then we correctly lynched Insom, (who vengekilled me), leaving Robz with Eevee, shraeye, Munch and Galz. It was a tough call, and Robz picked Galz who was Town.

Well obviously that's what's going to happen if they claim, as ICs were vengekilled in the previous setup. That's why I think if we could delay the claim until after a scumlynch, we'd be doing amazingly. But, of course, if the Masons think it's best to claim today, then it's up to them.

That possibility is always going to be there. If the masons claimed, will one be vengekilled? (I hope we all know the answer to that.)

Also, back-up what Robz said about the QT being great for ICs. Would've helped us in VI heaps I think.

Reason why I asked is because I'm curious as to how to define a "lurker" in Blitz Mafia. I would assume to just define them the way you normally would, but I wanted to be sure. Because that policy always works  ;D

Someone contributing less than they could is the definition I use.

Someone like theorel only having 20 posts that are all walls of text is a lot different than someone onelining themself up to a high post count without ever saying much anything.

..and here it's really highly likely people just haven't even noticed the game started yet. It's only been a couple of hours.

I thought I got a scummy vibe from Frisk and got all excited. Then I reread him, turns out I don't.

The one who sticks out to me most atm is Grujah; his "blah" attitude reminds me of scum-Grujah. Where did your initial scum vibe on Frisk come from Eevee? He was the one who proposed the mason debate. It's a possibility that scum is trying to out the masons early, but the opposite scenario is plausible as well.
