Usually Peddler variants cost $5. How do you justify this costing less?

You can theoretically justify it by arguing that the added effect is not always positive. (Compare tournament, which is also a peddler&, but the & can be negative.) Though I actually agree that the effect is too easy to utilize in this case and it'd be better at 5$.

I think this is fine at $4. Sure, you can get cheap Actions to make Swineherd shine. But you might also draw into that splitter or that strong $5 which you don’t want to play as Peddler in that very moment.

Discard this from play

Old Mister Johnson had troubles of his own
He had a yellow cat which wouldn't leave its home;
He tried and he tried to give the cat away,
He gave it to a man goin' far, far away.

But the cat came back the very next day,
The cat came back, we thought he was a goner
But the cat came back; it just couldn't stay away.
Away, away, yea, yea, yea

The atom bomb fell just the other day,
The H-Bomb fell in the very same way;
Russia went, England went, and then the U.S.A.
The human race was finished without a chance to pray.

But the cat came back the very next day,
The cat came back, we thought he was a goner
But the cat came back; it just couldn't stay away.
Away, away, yea, yea, yea

This is a design Contest, but if it was a meme contest this would immideatly win haha

It should probably have a non-Duration clause, or use Improve’s "a card you would discard from play this turn"

<Mule>

Sometimes a mule is a good horse, and sometimes it's just a mule.
I hesitated a moment before upvoting this only because you had 4 posts and 4 respect and I'd be changing that number.

Poacher is a Peddler that can degrade into an Oasis later whereas this is a Peddler that sucks to open with (because it is only a Copper after the first shuffle and thus does not help you to hit 5) but is then fine.

Its interaction with Lurker is even more degenerate than Lurker-Hunting Grounds (because it curses opponents instead of clogging your deck with Duchies, while generating similar amounts of net VP). Adding "except from the supply" to the on-trash condition is one change that could solve that issue.

Potion, yeah. the intent is also that the potion pile is not necessarily in the supply when WotNewt is in the game, unless Alchemy cards are also there.

I really like this but fear that it might be too good (of course you can always argue that power level is not that relevant in the case of Ways).
It is better than Sheep as it grants 3 Coins as well as access to two otherwise unavailable cards.
It is worse than Sheep as you can only use the Coins for buying these very two cards.

I feel like it falls into the Shaman or Baker category where the "Setup"/"In Games Using This" clause is more important than the effect. There's always a chance that it just kills at least one of the piles because you don't want to be using a terminal action to play it.

As worded with “choose 2 random supply piles,” it could effect basic Supply piles like Province or Silver, which I’m not sure is intended.  Maybe setup like Young Witch would work:

Setup: Add 2 extra Kingdom card piles costing $3 or more to the Supply. Their cards cost $3 less and P more.

Quote
Junk Dog | Action - Reaction | $3

+ 2 cards

When you trash this, you may play it.
When you trash a card, you may discard this from your hand to gain an action card from the trash.

You can’t get both “when’s” since playing it takes it out of your hand and it isn’t in your hand after getting trashed.

Not the Bees!

You know you have spent too much time searching for suitable card images when you end up using some Ukrainian stamps from more than 20 years ago.

VERSION 2

This one's a one-shot cantrip, similar to Horse. It's part of a fan expansion I'm working on, but modified to fit the contest better. Thematically, it's sort of supposed to represent the slaughter of the Great Plains bison. The villagers are to match how the bison herds supported Native tribes. It can gain itself, but not if the pile is out(extinct). Eventually, you use up the bison resource to gain a Silver or something of equal value(using every part of the buffalo *or* slaughtering for the money).

Until the pile is empty, it looks like you can gain a Bison on-play, making it a far superior Village (comes with a Villager on-gain, and you can store the extra action as a Villager if you don’t need it right away). That’s not to mention the flexibility.

Can't believe I didn't think about that. Hopefully fixed! Market Square with the gainer flexibility and not costing a buy instead of its reaction? Fits better with my original idea, too.

You cannot separate the setup and play effect unless Potion is in the Kingdom.
