Just played a game on Goko with Chapel, Upgrade, Saboteur and Island, so there were lots of ways to get cards out of your deck. Talking on the phone, I didn't play very focused and had no real plan for the game, but the way the bot destroyed me was quite impressive.

After 14 turns the bot reduced its deck to two Upgrades, Fortress, Gold, Warehouse and Island.

Then turn 15 it was: play Upgrade, draw only card remaining, trash Fortress, gain Upgrade, play another Upgrade trashing the same Fortress, rinse and repeat. The Fortress was Upgraded 9 times to give the bot 7 remaining Upgrades and 2 Duchies.

Then it continued similar tricks for next 4 turns, Upgrading Fortress into Duchies, Duchies or Upgrades into Nobles and so on, till 3 piles were empty. Too bad Goko logs don't show trashed cards list, I would really like to see what ended up there :)

What did he end with?  Turn 19 isn't THAT fast, and it seems like he couldn't go after Provinces.  There is alt VP, but if he was trashing Duchy to get Nobles, that's not that great.  Plus you can contest Duchies yourself.

Defender Bot - cards: 6 Island, 4 Nobles, 3 Upgrade, 1 Fortress, 2 Gold, 2 Copper, 4 Duchy, 2 Estate (34 points, 19 turns)
hsiale_ - cards: 2 Nobles, 2 Island, 1 Chapel, 1 Saboteur, 1 Count, 4 Copper, 3 Gold, 3 Silver, 3 Province, 2 Estate (28 points, 18 turns)

One more Province and I would win, I guess I'd do it if I played thinking only about the game. Overall his strategy probably looked was more impressive than efficient, seeing several Upgrades being played one after another with the same Fortress was something new to me and I didn't think it will work.

This is a first for me... Turn 21...

http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201211/30/game-20121130-073335-6ba29ccd.html

— ednever's turn 21 —
You get +1 action and +$1 from your Fishing Village.
You play an Expand.
... You trash a Colony.
... You gain a Province.

— ednever's turn 22 —
ednever plays an Expand.
... trashing a Mountebank.
... gaining a Province.
(ednever draws: 2 Golds, an Expand, and 2 Coppers.)

All Provinces are gone.
ednever wins!

----
Even more funny is combined with turn 19:

— ednever's turn 19 —
ednever plays an Expand.
... trashing a Province.
... gaining a Colony.

I call it the two-step.

You might want to edit that to say "ednever's turn 21" (or copy-paste the log directly)... it took me a while to realize that those were both your turns, and not 2 different people's turns.

Didn't look at the full log, but why not ski the middle man and go province to province?

Thought about it. But I was't confident enough at that point to not take the extra 4vp.

Pretty proud of the last turn here:
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/07/game-20121207-094834-3b7e24d0.html

City game. Piles were running low, but no pile was empty - neither one of us wanted the other guy to get level 2 or 3 cities.

But with University and Develop on the board it was possible to activate cities mid-turn. Which was what I pulled off here.

What I like about this turn is that it used a lot of techniques that took me a long time to get:
- Activating cities mid-turn
- Watching the reshuffle very carefully (the previous turn I picked up Embassies for draw. And here I play a University to get a card just before the reshuffle is triggered)
- Using Develop effectively. And using it for it's top-decking in the end game - giving me exactly the card I need next
- Combining Highway/Bridge with gainers - using Develop to turn an Estate into a City
- Using University to pick up an Oasis- often the highest value card is not the right one to get at any given time
- Watching points carefully. I was ahead by one point - so all I had to do was empty three piles - I didn't need to get any VP (and three piles were at 1/1/2 cards left)

Here's the turn:

— ednever's turn 16 —
   ednever plays a University.
   ... getting +2 actions.
   ... gaining a Highway.
   ednever plays a City.
   ... (ednever reshuffles.)
... drawing 2 cards and getting +2 actions.
   ednever plays an Oasis.
... drawing 1 card and getting +1 action and +$1.
   ... discarding a card.
   ednever plays a Highway.
... drawing 1 card and getting +1 action.
... reducing all costs by $1.
   ednever plays an Embassy.
   ... drawing 5 cards.
   ... discarding 3 cards.
   ednever plays a Highway.
... drawing 1 card and getting +1 action.
... reducing all costs by $1.
   ednever plays a Golem.
... revealing an Oasis and a Bridge.
   ... playing the Bridge first.
   ... ... getting +1 buy, +$1, and reducing all costs by $1.
   ... playing the Oasis second.
   ... ... drawing 1 card and getting +1 action and +$1.
   ... ... discarding a card.
   ednever plays a City.
... drawing 2 cards and getting +2 actions.
   ednever plays a University.
   ... getting +2 actions.
   ... gaining an Oasis.
   ednever plays a City.
   ... drawing 2 cards and getting +2 actions, +1 buy, and +$1.
   ednever plays a City.
   ... drawing 2 cards and getting +2 actions, +1 buy, and +$1.
   ednever plays a Highway.
... drawing 1 card and getting +1 action.
... reducing all costs by $1.
   ednever plays a Develop.
   ... trashing an Estate.
... gaining a City and put it on the deck.
... but there's no $-1 card to gain.
   ednever plays an Oasis.
... drawing 1 card and getting +1 action and +$1.
   ... discarding a card.
   ednever plays a City.
   ... drawing 2 cards and getting +2 actions, +1 buy, and +$1.
   ednever plays an Oasis.
... drawing 1 card and getting +1 action and +$1.
   ... discarding a card.
   ednever plays a City.
   ... drawing 2 cards and getting +2 actions, +1 buy, and +$1.
   ednever plays a Highway.
... drawing 1 card and getting +1 action.
... reducing all costs by $1.
   ednever plays a University.
   ... getting +2 actions.
   ... gaining a City.
   ednever plays a Bridge.
... getting +1 buy, +$1, and reducing all costs by $1.
ednever plays a Potion and a Copper.
   ednever buys a Province.
   ednever buys a Province.
   ednever buys a Province.
   ednever buys a Province.
   ednever buys a Duchy.
   ednever buys a Duchy.
   ednever buys a Duchy.
(ednever draws: a Highway, a Copper, an Embassy, a Duchy, and an Estate.)

What's more fun than buying out the Curse pile to end the game?

Embargoing the Curses in order to be able to buy them out to end the game.

I think I must have somehow drained out all the rage the last few days, because I was unusually calm about being first player on a Border Village/Torturer board, taking the lead on Torturers, and then still being on the receiving end of all the chaining nastiness and losing with absolutely ridiculously bad shuffle luck.

Specifically, on turn 15, at the end of the shuffle:

>(zahlman draws: 4 Torturers and an Estate.)

Someone said to submit this to this thread, and the end of the year is coming up, so I figured I should. Here I curse my opponent using... Talisman!

Quote
— sparky5856's turn 10 —
sparky5856 plays a Native Village.
... getting +2 actions.
... picking up 7 cards from the Native Village mat.

sparky5856 plays a Bridge.
... getting +1 buy, +$1, and reducing all costs by $1.

sparky5856 plays 2 Coppers.
sparky5856 plays a Talisman.

(sparky5856 reshuffles.)
(sparky5856 draws: an Estate, a Native Village, and 3 Coppers.)

Native Villages, Curses, and Ill-Gotten Gains are all gone.
sparky5856 wins!

And a bonus: I know this has already been mentioned... but MAN, this felt sweet.

Quote
sparky5856 plays a Tournament.

... Bishop Zen reveals a Province.
sparky5856 plays a Crossroads.
... sparky5856 reveals a Swindler, a Black Market, and a Copper.
... getting +3 actions.

... getting +$2.
... Bishop Zen turns up a Trusty Steed and trashes it.
... replacing Bishop Zen's Trusty Steed with a Curse.

Hey, it could have been worse; at least they didn't all MISS the shuffle.

What is the record number of times for someone Sea Hagging your Sea Hag? I just got it twice in a row.

I don't know, but I did manage to just lose the Alchemist split 2-8 to someone who also only bought one Potion...

Played a game recently with Scrying Pool (and a bunch of other great engine cards i.e. Highway), Masq, and Black Market. I got Tounament and Mountebank from the Black Market deck, and he got Possession from the BM deck. He proceeded to Possess me and using my Masquerade pass himself the Mountebank, the Tournament, and more goodies such as Provinces.

Getting Possession from the BM deck is extremely lucky, since you need both BM+Potion+4 extra $ in hand!

How many potions are you supposed to buy?

I think he means, they both only bought one potion, and yet somehow the opponent got 8 Alchemists. If the opponent had gotten more than one potion, it could help explain how they got so many Alchemists.

There are times when you want two, I've found, both to get Alchs more quickly and to help set up the stack (by increasing the likelihood of finding a Potion when you still don't have many Alchs yet).
