Furthermore, that's a TERRIBLE idea if you really think there's a cult out there about to win that takes over the powers of its recruits...

Biggest mystery here is, exactly how powerful can the cult be? They have galz not dying when he should and someone kingscourting the recruiting power at night.. sounds just crazy? eHcyon has said modding us is amusing multiple times, so I dont think he is panicking over making the cult too strong so there is definitely something we are not realizing. No way this is lylo just yet.

But why are our vp counts so sad? Deck must be doing rather terribly.
Oh and isnt it impossible for Galz to survive if his recruits dont share his wincon and just rat him out to the town the first chance they get (except they didnt but they should have). It just doesnt add up.

PPE: hello new replies!

What do you think we're going to learn from it? The Ironworks recruits aren't exactly going to give away any useful information, and what would be farfetch'd enough to not believe from a fakeclaim?

Pre-edit: Eevee, you make a good point there... how did you all find out that Galz was the leader, and not on your side? That does seem pretty strange...

Mass claim sounds like the worst idea ever. We might need some help from the ironworks faction to figure this out though. And we dont know if they even want to help us.
I'm still super comfused who the hell is the mountebank and why did he target me again?! He did that nights 2 and 4 (and the first time obviously doesnt need any explanation).

Oh part of the reason for our unfortunate vp situation is the dounle night. Chancellor has got to be a scum role.

This goes back to the question Axxle asked Day 3:  why Robz didn't immediately rat out Galz at the start of the day.  And let's take it one step further back:  why Robz didn't rat out Galz on Day 2.

one explanation could be shared wincons, but that wouldnt explain why he finally did.

One interesting thought: do we really have to fight against the cult (ironworks?)

If the wincon of the faction is to become majority, we can try to win by joining them. Actually If they are kind enough they can let every living player win.

Another possibility is that that wincon only applies or the faction leader, dead or alive. In this case, we probably shouldn't be afraid of being converted that much; as long as we can find the faction leader if he is still alive and lynch him in time, we can probably still win. In fact as far as I can see right now, the faction leader will not win even if he recruited the majority of the town, as he has no control over their vote. Maybe some wincon like when there are no other threat to the town, the ironworks faction remains as the majority?

tl;dr; I think we still need to find the curses. Maybe we should start with the mountebank.

I don't know either.  Robz only posted twice that day, so maybe he had real life stuff happening.

CF:  are you presently under any posting restrictions or restrictions on what info you can divulge (punishable by modkill or otherwise)?

Also, were you under such restrictions (or increased restrictions) after being Ironworks'd but before Galz died?

Yes, although they are less bad then they were when I was first ironworks'd.  Of course, I never needed to play with them because chancy flipped the deck.

I had a thought last night, which almost made me get out of bed and post to tell everyone.

I don't think we're facing a cult. I think we're facing more of a Pied Piper. Well, kinda a mix of both.

Here's how the canonical Piper works:
Each night, the Piper enchants one player. Enchanted players stay enchanted until the Piper dies. Each night (well, at the end of each night), they learn the names of all players who are enchanted at that point. They cannot claim or hint they are enchanted, but otherwise have no negative effects to their role. The Piper wins if all players except himself are enchanted.

Normally, this is a very difficult role to win as, due to the piper needing to get to a situation with just one or two other players not enchanted, at which point either the mafia has a good chance to kill them, or the town has a good chance to lynch them. So I wouldn't be surprised if it were made easier in some way

So there are some obvious differences (people losing roles and wincons notably), but otherwise, I think this would explain what's going on much, much better than a cult. Now, those who have been Ironworks'd who have more information than me can perhaps tell me of some reasons this theory fails, but I suspect we're facing a Piper/pair of Pipers who needs to enchant everyone to win, or at least, a number well above half.

Thanks CF.  Can you reveal how you know Galz was King's Courted?  Or would that be violating your (current) restrictions?

PPE:  Pied Piper.  Interesting idea.  Have to mull that for a bit, but my immediate question is:  how does this theory square with Galz's after-hammer posts at the end of Day 3 (coupled with Galz's unexpectedly surviving the lynch)?

Hmm... yeah, I should go reread that. I think it's worth noting, if Galz had a partner, why would he necessarily tell the truth? I think the answer is 'he wouldn't' and well everyone was thinking 'cult' at that point, right?

Having reread, yes, I think Galz was lying during that twilight. It would be a perfectly reasonable thing to do, right? And it'd explain neatly without the need for a Masquerade why he's an Ironworks aligned Trader, not an Ironworks aligned Ironworks.

All it doesn't explain, is why he only lost 4 VPs when he got lynched...
