OK, let's talk whiskey. What kind's do people drink? I like whiskey, but I haven't tried a lot of brands/kinds.
This is my jam!
I'm into Larceny, that's my standard non-fancy drink now. Sorta sweeter/smoother than some other whiskeys, sorta like Maker's Mark. I can drink more quicker (as opposed to whiskeys you'd definitely only want to sip, and hold your pinky up and stuff), so it's a good drink to offer at a party or such. Also people who normally go "ugh, whiskey!?? How can you stand that stuff?" will sometimes say, "oh hey, now that's not actually bad!"
Whipper Snapper and Blanton's are two fancier types I've enjoyed. The sort you want to sip with whiskey rocks and such. Also, Blanton's comes in a classy bottle, if displaying bottles is something you're into.
I have a friend who swears by Bulleit as his standard whiskey (like Larceny for me). He says "it's the best bang for your buck whiskey I've ever found". It is decent, and I sort of prefer the Bulleit Rye over the regular.
Jim Beam is quite harsh, and not so good unless you're planning on mixing it with stuff (then it's just fine). Jim Beam Rye is slightly better than the standard.
There's Old Crow, for when all you want is to spend very little and burn your mouth quite a lot. Plus you can say "ca-caw!" while you drink it. I only recommend it for the last part.
