This week's contest is to Design a Liaison that gives favors in a way that no official Liaison does.

Existing Liaisons

* Give the player a choice to gain favors or to do something else (Bauble, Broker)
* Give favors unconditionally on-gain and on-trash (Sycophant)
* Give favors unconditionally on-play (Underling, Contract)
* Give favors unconditionally at the start of the game (Importer)
* Trash a card and give favors if the trashed card was a treasure (Student)
* Draw cards and give favors if the drawing caused a shuffle (Emissary)
* Give favors after playing for the rest of the turn when the player gains a card (Guildmaster)

So eligible entries mustn't fit any of those descriptions. Maybe your card is a reaction. Maybe you play it and it cares what you did before you played it, or maybe it cares about something other than gaining cards afterwards. The sky's the limit (by "sky" I mean "set of existing Liaison cards").

I will be judging based on
* How fun the card looks to play
* How creative and interesting the card looks
* The most important criteria: how interesting the way it gives favors is.

I hope to judge on July 17, but I have some unknowns around that time, so y'all might get a couple extra days.

Tribute is back. You can pull of funky stuff like discarding the same stuff in a deck drawing engine (e.g. two Victories to make this a Horse-Lab) and like Courtier it obviously shines with multi-type cards. I fear that it might be too weak but $3 seems too cheap.

When you discard this other than in Clean-up, you may reveal it for +1 Favor.

Notes:
It’s Underling Village, but there’s a cost to get that Favor. You should have some interesting decisions about when to discard it to itself, and you can build a deck that overdraws to discard it to itself and then redraw it in the same turn, to accumulate Favors faster.

I think that this is far too strong. Also 4 jobs are too much for a card, often 3 are already dubious.

I think that this is far too strong. Also 4 jobs are too much for a card, often 3 are already dubious.

For a concrete example, compare Underwriter to Maroon which is already a very strong $4.

- If you play Lady-in-Waiting with City-State, Lady-in-Waiting is not immediately triggered (as the Favors were spent before playing).
- If the Ally has a "Repeat as desired", Lady-in-Waiting triggers on the first Favor spent, and subsequent Favors may only be spent after resolving Lady-in-Waiting.

2 Allies in one game?! What a gimmick! You can still only use one of them at a time, though, and grabbing a Traitor lets you control which one that is.

2 Allies in one game?! What a gimmick! You can still only use one of them at a time, though, and grabbing a Traitor lets you control which one that is. Originally I had it as strictly "Gain a Silver" but maybe you want to rotate Allies lots without filling your deck with silvers, and that seemed more fun.
This is not strictly better than Underling but better and cheaper.

You can gain copies of stuff in other people's hands, but eventually you'll run out of Favors. Unless they Mooch off you and.. return the Favor.

Seems like the case, though they're all interesting in doing so. Even Shopkeepers - the Shopkeepers +buy may be the only +buy in the Kingdom (with Lady in Waiting's inaccessible).

I feel like this should be “when you gain this on your turn” to prevent messenger pins and just other  things.

Like it a lot even without that change

Even Shopkeepers - the Shopkeepers +buy may be the only +buy in the Kingdom (with Lady in Waiting's inaccessible).

I'm not sure when you would want to spend $5 and a buy on a one-shot that gives you +$1 and a buy, after first spending $5 and a buy on a terminal one-shot that does nothing besides enabling the +$1 +1 buy one-shot a few turns later.
