Basically we’ve never done it.  There’s no data on how good or bad it really might be.  I mean, the setup post says bad guys get two fake claims.  So, there is that.  But other stuff isn’t fakeable.

Like, think about your own role.  Here are the calculations I think each town player should make:

—how much more likely am I to be targeted at night if my role is known
—how much more likely are other town players to use their own powers more usefully by knowing my role
—how much more likely is it that there are ways scum use the knowledge of my role against Town other than killing me

Assume 70% of town believe your claim.  Apply the answers to the above to those calculations.  Determine if the results are more pro-Town than pro-scum.  Then you can decide if mass claim is good.  (Well, technically, if your own personal claim is good.)

So, if my made up answers are 5%, 40%, 20%, I might decide the benefit outweighs the detriment by 15%, applied to 70% of town.  Maybe that’s not worth it.

but we have done it. I don't remember what the game was called, but there was an RMM where we straight up claimed everything day 1. As far as I remember, you were town and I was scum.

I like draft+item claiming. 
Not sure how I feel about full claiming. Ingrained habit says it's bad, but last time we played rewind, I was scum and full claiming went really well for town since it basically broke the setup. So, y'know; upsides.

I'll quote and comment on Awaclus' plan where I disagree with it.

Claiming One Dose of Spice is fine if I've understood correctly that we don't know what it does.

I don't know if we want to claim this. In Dune 3, there were characters who would die if they didn't regularly ingest spice. This spice might be for one of those characters, so that they can live. If they claim they have it, it could get stolen from them and they could die.

Everything in Slot 6 should be fine to claim.

Not sure about flint for the same reason as spice. I don't know what game flint hails from though - an earlier Dune? Does anyone know what it did in its last appearance?

Slot 7:
Golden Touch is bad to claim.

Why would 1 shot roleblocker be bad to claim?

Also, not sure about the water - same thing as the spice and the flint.

I pretty much agree with his conclusions, although now I guess I am advocating for an even more limited range of items to claim. Mostly I think we benefit from hearing who got what in slot 3.

What I am strongly confident about, on further reflection, is that Awaclus is right about it being positive utility for slot #3 bidders to claim. To the extent that I think everyone should claim whether or not they bid slot #3. I'm not as confident about the other boxes he proposed. I'm not confident that mass claim is good - I think it's probably bad today just like it usually is, but maybe good in a day or two.

Also this was a joke and reference to the last run of Rewind Mafia. It wouldn't IC anyone in this game because Guilds mafia claims could easily be fakeclaims.

We don't want the water-bearer to claim. Either it's scum, or it's someone from Dune mafia who may die if their water is stolen.

I still don't know what flint is in reference to.

Flint was from Dune Mafia 1. Mail-mi's character was able to use it to start a fire. It looks like he tried to do so toward the end of the game, but what effect that would have had is not clear to me. Maybe Ash can enlighten us? Faust's flint may do something different though...
