Favourite Card/Event/Landmark?

We've looked at the rules for eighteen hours now, so we already have picked some favourite cards, right? Atleast the ones you are most looking forward to. Here are mine:

card: I'm a huge fan of Split piles, and Catapult is probably my favourite. I just love the trend that you have to put work into attacking your opponent instead of just making attack cards broken. It's probably one of the weaker cards, but I don't mind that.

Event: Donate is insanely crazy which is always cool but my favourite has to be Tax. Hooray for seond player advantage. I'm also looking forward to mess around with the debt tokens. (Put all the dept on Provinces, I wanna build more!)

Landmark: Tough call, I think it is Orchard at the moment. I mean who doesn't like getting action cards?

Archives looks awesome, but that's not my favorite card. I don't really know what my favorite one from this set is yet, I'll probably decide when I do the stream looking and talking about the cards.

Card: Enchantress. First of all, and most importantly of course, the art for this card is great. The attack is very unique and should make for some interesting decisions by the other players. As someone who plays exclusively IRL, this card should provide some entertaining interactions.

Event: Salt the Earth. Wouldn't be surprised if this event shows up often in the best dominion moments thread. Should provide some crazy end game shenanigans.

Landmark: Mountain Pass. What is 8 VP worth to you in debt? What is 8VP worth to your opponents? When do you buy the first province? This landmark will be a fun meta game.

Card: Encampment/Plunder.  I look forward to buying a plunder and then hiding further plunder by covering it with encampment.  Even if that's not very good.

Event: Tax.  I love playing Embargo in asymmetric games, but Tax could be good even in mirrors.

Landmark: Obelisk.  Basically every time we play with it, it will modify a card we've never seen it modify before.

Kingdom Cards I love: I love Legionary very much. Crazy fun card. I also love Rocks, because it's hilarious.

Events I love: Annex, Advance, Banquet, Delve. I love Delve because SCSN hates it. I love Banquet because it's insane fun, and combos with Watchtower. I think my favorite though is Annex, especially because of the card art.

Landmarks I love: Wall is incredibly funny. Sorry Raid, you suck even more now, you can't even get past a wall, you dirty Silver Flooder.

The one that lets you trash Victory cards (Salt the earth) is pretty bonkers, that and Rebuild is just a monstrosity.

Also the one that lets you trash your deck (Donate); good luck making a nice UI for that one!

If I understand correctly, S&S have already done so.

Kingdom Card: I'm tempted to give it to the quiet achiever, Chariot Race, because I enjoy that kind of interaction. Not a direct attack, but a bonus/penalty for whatever you've both got on show at the time. While it will eventually be broken down and an optimal strategy found, I feel like it's going to greatly enhance Empires + anything for a good long while. During the period in which we're all still working out what goes where, this is going to result in a lot of surprising turns. And that's a very, very good thing. It's simple, elegant, and what I was most looking forward to until the Castles pile came and completely smoked it.

Event: Baby's First Deck-Thinner Donate is an obvious choice for most surprising, certainly, but Salt the Earth will lead to over the top spite and dickery. Not sure about you lot, but that's how I like my Dominion.

Landmark: Because it's a new mechanic, there's a lot to love with Landmarks. The constantly evolving shell game of Defiled Shrine and the potential gamble of the Obelisk are front-runners; and the more subtle but potentially seismic shifts of Triumphal Arc and Keep are definite winners. But Wall is going to make most games with trashing interesting, and those without trashing a frantic race.

Most eagerly anticipated combo: Nuclear option - Donate + Tomb.

Card: Encampment/Plunder.  I look forward to buying a plunder and then hiding further plunder by covering it with encampment.  Even if that's not very good.

I like your style. There are a couple of "Treasure Map moments" that have stood out for me already while just glancing at the cards. My group's going to get some pretty easy wins in once I do get my hands on the expansion...

Card: I'm going to have to go with Wild Hunt.  I love the art, and it's easily my favorite of the Gathering cards, mainly because it has the greatest utility beyond Gathering out of them.

Event: Tax.  "Oh, you bought a Potion?  Here, let me just put a metric shit-ton of Debt on Scrying Pool."

Landmark: Tomb.  I still love the idea of trashing for points, though some of the ones that count things I think will go over well with those players who asked in their first game how many points their Golds were worth.

Card: on a whim I'm going to say Patrician/Emporium. One is a solid Lab variant for very cheap, and the other is Great Hall on steroids, helping your engine grow while also giving you Nobles points.

Event: Salt the Earth. I had been waiting for this.

Landmark: Mountain pass. But it's hard to say, many look very fun.

Card: Wild hunt. I really like how if you don't go for it your opponent can just wait until the end of the game to gain Estates.

Event: Donate. I like how it changes how you build. Instead of focusing on thinning first you can get your kc,kc,masq, goons in your deck and then boom you can pin your opponent next turn with ought carring about debt.

Landmark: tomb. Rewards thinning in a non engine game.(Chapel bm is a thing now)
Also hilarious combo with rats and fortress. (If you draw a fortress in your starting hand you get points for every rats you have in your deck.)

I like Donate and Salt the Earth for Events.

I really have no clue for Landmarks. It's hard o see how those will play out really.

For Kingdom cards, I think Castles are my favorite. But, I also like Villa and Enchantress.

Card: I'll go with Royal Blacksmith, for using a new mechanic to enable something simple but interesting . Honorable mentions to Catapult/Rocks, Chariot Race, Temple, and Wild Hunt.

Event: Tax, which seems like a user-friendly Embargo that also mitigates turn order. Honorable mentions to Ritual and Salt the Earth.

Landmark: I'll say Obelisk because I think stuff like Obelisk of Chancellor will be so much fun, even though there's an equal chance for Obelisk of Minion. Honorable mentions to Fountain and Defiled Shrine. I think the Landmarks that really warp the game will be fun; like Colonnade may adjust your strategy a bit but often you want to buy a bunch of Peddlers turn after turn anyway. But ask me how I'm gonna have 10 coppers at the end of the game, or if that effort's even worth 15? Man, I don't know.

Why everybody loves Salt The Earth so much?

It is THE ultimate engine killer:

get embassy (or likes)
get four provinces
salt the rest of them
...
profit

It won't hurt really fast megaturns, but the games where "I've bought six Provinces, but this cheater nerd bought the last two and all Duchies in his last two turns and he played this bad ship on me every turn get a life you jerk!!!" won't happen anymore with Salt The Earth being around.

I am thinking that Ritual is going to be a hard event to play with. Other than last shuffle, it's not very clear when you would want that instead of just buying victory cards. It's nice with Watchtower though.

Legionary's attack is bananas. Sure, you need to match it with a Gold to attack, but still.

Well, it's a quite powerful Rush enabler, including, but not limited to, BM rushes.
But it looks interesting, so I'll forgive it for empowering some of the not-really-fun rushes like Embassy bm and Rebuild.

I like interesting decisions where there is no clear best way to play and optimal play depends on what the opponents do.

Card: Castles Even when you're not going for castles you need to buy some away from your opponent, or salt them. Which castle do I trash with the small castle and which do I gain? Buying the penultimate castle is risky especially in multiplayer games.

Event: Ritual The ultimate endgame thrash for benefit.

Landmark: Keep Keeping a few coppers or even buying with leftover buys during endgame. Is it worth it? Does it clutter my deck too much? Can I upgrade the gold into a province or do I loose the gold lead?

Mechanic Gathering (Altough Landmarks are a close second). The decision wheter to take the VP or add a VP to the pile. Do I play Farmers Market for +3 Coin and let the opponent get the VP or do I wait?

There's so many that I'm excited about!  I like additions that introduce unique interactions between players, encourage you to play drastically different decks, and/or change how really common things work, and there's a bunch of all that in Empires. In general, I'm way more excited for Empires than I remember being for previous sets (and I'm always excited). It may also help that I love alt VP, and this set has so much of that.

Cards:

Castles --> definitely interesting interactions between players and seems like it will foster divergent strategies (people don't benefit equally if they "go for castles" equally)

Villa --> the kind of card that makes me dream about all the crazy new things it can let me do. (Although the people I play with who already hate how long my turns can get playing an engine will probably be pretty unhappy about it.)

Split piles & Gathering cards --> unique interactions between players (especially if playing 3-4 player. I know, I know: heresy). I especially like Encampment (straightforward card, but can open interesting pile control tactics, and could encourage you to add cards you might not want in your engine if this is the only village), Gladiator (cool player interaction both with revealing a unique card from your hand and the opportunity/risk of making fortune available), Temple (without the gathering, I'd think this would be the kind of card you'd only buy one of. But if it's the only trasher, it's likely gonna get used a bunch, making buying another for points tempting. Gathering is a great way to make a trasher that involves new, interesting decisions).

Events:

Salt the Earth --> hilarious; player interaction; hilarious; great flavor; hahahaha, I'm going to relish how much this will make people hate me

Donate --> I agree with what everyone else has said about this, but I'm also interested what new golden decks this might enable

Delve&Wedding --> simple ways to make basic treasures feel new again

Tax--> same reasons everyone else has had

Landmarks:

Mountain Pass, Fountain, Keep, Obelisk, Wall...okay, all of 'em, really.

Thanks Donald X!!!
