Dominion League / Re: Season 19 has started! (Rules changes)

My matches so far have been using the "no new information" as well as undoing obvious misclicks (not paying debt, etc) and it's been great so far.  I feel like it improves speed - you lose time fixing errors, but not as much as if you have to quadruple-check every click instead.  It definitely improves my experience, feeling like I'm not losing games to the interface.

That is the house rule I recommend, and the way I have always played it. A technical reading of the rulebook suggests that abilities refresh at the start of your turn, which would make Canoe not work until your next turn.

Seems so strange to have a designer recommending house rules.  Do you have any you recommend for your other published games?

Dominion General Discussion / Re: New Promo Card
« on: January 16, 2017, 01:28:27 pm »
It's $13 now. Now, that they are showing up on eBay I'm guessing it's just a matter of time before BGG gets them again.

$14 shipping, for $27 US total.

So, is BGG the only outlet for this card? It looks to me like an English version has not been available on the site since November 2016.

I can get one on ebay for $27, with tons available.... jerks.  I know BGG says "1 per person" but I don't think they're able to enforce it.  Either that or somebody robbed RGG at a convention or such.

The account name is Fat and Furious.

I agree there needs to be a way of handling griefers, but I don't think name-and-shame is the right way to deal with it.

Neither is it the wrong way!

Is there any reason some of the symbols are different within the new cards?  I forget which but at least one of my added base cards has a different symbol from the others.

can you use quarry to get Princes, and Save them to collide with Bridges?

e: actually, princed Crossroads could lead into a big bridge turn as well.

I don't really know what you should have done, but I can say that your logic wasn't sound.  If you salvage a Province -> Province, there's no way Chris is me will double province and invite the simple Salvage Province and buy estate loss.

I think at the end of the last turn, instead Salvage Minion getting you to $9 and buy a province.

Is there any means to reset my password?  I appear to have utterly forgotten which throwaway password I used.

I, also.

Are there publicly available randomizers that choose between two of a list of sets (without you having to pick the sets each time)?

Android's "Dominion Shuffle" might be able to do this, you can definitely say "4+ (or exactly 5) cards if any" from each set which would be close.

Who chose the size for Dominion cards, and why?

Were other sizes ever tested?

I bought the update packs at my local game store here in Montreal. Yay for distribution in Canada!

Yeah, one of our shops was able to get them in for me.

I don't know if I've upgraded (e: had an upgrade prompt last night, so probably not at the time I wrote this), but had a bunch of failures a few hours ago - game hanging (neither player could resign), or nothing happening after both players accept a rematch - then often getting "You are In a Game" lying errors.  We assumed it was server load, 1000+ games is more than I remember seeing but I don't look at that stat often.

FR: A way to follow this ruling...

So to confirm, this also gives us another ruling, that "anywhere in your deck" includes "generally somewhere in the middle", and doesn't have to be an exact number of cards from the top that you decide on.
If what you're asking is, can you choose to not know where exactly you're putting the card, then yes.

Help! / Witch vs large engine, no trashing
« on: October 06, 2016, 05:29:21 pm »

Code: [Select]
Squire, Scrying Pool, Caravan Guard, Militia, Port, Lost City, Stash, Vault, Wharf, Witch
In this game there was clearly a big drawing engine available, but I felt it would be troubled by lack of trashing and presence of Witch.  I was handily crushed - did I make the wrong assessment or was it just that my Witches collided at the bottom of the shuffle, twice?  Additionally, were Caravan Guards a good idea?  I thought they would be handy between Witch and Pool.

My binder will have space for keeping one of the old cards from each set.  I think Thief, Woodcutter, Saboteur, and Coppersmith are fighting for those slots.

As a side note, shouldn't the removed cards now go under Variants and Fan Cards due to no longer being official cards?

And here I thought Stalin was dead.

Dominion Articles / Re: Challenge: Write a Pearl Diver article
« on: September 30, 2016, 12:36:12 am »
a deck full of Peddlers has a lower density of more valuable cards, increasing the chances of a trashing attack miss.

King's Court is probably the least reliant on Peddler, as it is easier to chain multiple King's Courts than it is to chain multiple Throne Rooms, but Pearl Diver can still be nice in a pinch for KC engines.

These Peddlers should be Pearl Divers instead!
(A statement commonly made about Dominion decks?)
