Masterpiece - Watchtower

Yesterday, i played a non-engine game where i opened Masquerade and Watchtower (Shelters game). I was lucky enough to trash 5 Coppers through Mint early on, and soon after that, i happened to hit $7 with Watchtower in my hand, and out of coincidence, i decided to buy a Masterpiece. The Watchtower-reaction window popped-up, and then i realised how cool what i just did was!  ;D

Revealing Watchtower to Masterpiece and trashing it.

Revealing Watchtower to the 4 Silvers gained, putting them on top of my Deck.

And my next turn was a Province.

Now, i'm kinda sure that i'm not the 1st one who notices this wonderful interaction, but not everyone would think of it just like that, so i felt like i wanted to share it.  ;D

Are you sure your next turn shouldn't have been another Masterpiece?

At first I thought you meant you gained 5 Coppers by playing Mint five times. I was wondering why this was lucky! :)

I don't recall why. But i kinda felt that it was time for me to start greening. Maybe i had already bought a Gold, and probably also saved my Masterpiece buys for when my Watchtower was in my hand. And i also had a Mint, that could duplicate my Treasures.

Mass Masterpiece is so strong for BM.  Awaclus is absolutely right.  One big Masterpiece buy is often insufficient.  With Masterpiece you want to time your greening with your reshuffle.  In your case you just top-decked 5 Silver with Watchtower insuring that you do not reshuffle and that you have $10 in hand.  Assuming you reshuffle after your $10 hand you need to get another Masterpiece.  If you're in the greening stage of that game already, it's likely that you misplayed earlier in the match.

The main idea with mass Masterpiece is that you initially have a smallish deck (less than 20 cards) that would choke under a bit of green that has decent money density.  On that specific pass through you want all Masterpiece buys which serves to drastically increase your deck size to upwards to 35 cards most of which are Copper or Silver.  You can then green with impunity by buying Duchy at $5-7 and Province at $8 or higher.

Hello.  Name's Bruce.  It's all right.  I understand.  Why trust a shark, right?

Is quite curious - Who is the mystical "Celestial Chameleon"?

Masquerade and masterpiece seems good in its own right. Watchtower and masterpiece is excellent. If you have time to buy a royal seal then that works well with masterpiece too.
