FYI -- All newbies I've heard of have either signed up or declined to play the newbie game.

Do we have more folks we want to recruit?  I still think we need to rope Theory into one.

New players in each game (not counting RMMM or BM games):

MI - All 9 players and 1 mod (theory, Robz, O, Axxle, TINAS, Davio, Goober, ftl, Ozle, theory, pops)
MII - 8 players (Tables, Kuilidous, jotheonah, Voltgloss, Galzria, Morgrim, bozzball, insomniac)
MIII - 6 players (captain_frisk, eevee, yuma, michaeljb, Dsell, eHal)
MIV - 4 players (theorel, Glooble, grujah, SFS)
MV - 1 player (ehunt)
MVI - 3 players (timchen, PPS, cayvie)
MVII - 3 players (Young Nick, manda, sharkbait)
MVIII - 1 player (Lekkit)
MIX - 3 players (sparky, shraeye, angrybirds)
MX - 5 players (Jorbles, Cuzz, Geolib, ashersky, Voltaire)
MXI - 2 players (TheMunch, Watno)
ZM1 - 0 players
ZM2 - 1 player (Archetype)
MXII - 0 players
MXIII - 0 players
ZM3 - 0 players
MXIV - 0 players
MXV - 1 player (Qvist)
ZM4 - 1 player (Jimmmm)

sorry if I forgot anyone. Morale of the story is we are getting less and less new players. Not sure why, but in recent games it is certainly a trend.

Haven't the games we've been running lately been of the more wacky nature? Could that be a factor?

That could be part of it. I've been considering hopping in the queue to start a more standard themeless game with all normal roles. Maybe another implementation of JK9++, since that's a well-tested setup and it's different each time it runs. Only problem is I'd really rather play than mod...

it's also a natural equilibrium thing. I mean obviously the first game was going to be all new players, and the next games were going to have people who wanted to play the first game but didn't for one reason or another, etc., etc.

Are there that many players out there who are itching to get into a "new" player game?  I kindof figured we had attracted all of the players.

I think you are probably right... There may be a few people on the forum who know the games are going on, but haven't joined that may still want to. I think any new players we get will be irl friends or brand new members to the forums for the most part.

And I personally am more attracted to the newbie style of games, or at least ones in which the mechanics are relatively simple (no RMMM for me anymore) and have a lowish number of players.

that sounds dangerous to me... my wife agreed, "I already get mad enough at you in Dominion when you play attacks. Why would you want me to play a game where you could kill me?"

I think that's where we are.  Anyone should feel free to fill the "newbie" game slots now, I think.  You can just play like a n00b.

I tried to get my friend to play (the guy who got me into dominion). He said "maybe if I lose my job." I told him he was mixing up cause and effect.

Might work.  There seem to be quite a few mafiascum users that are in a relationship with another user.

So ash, from the looks of it, it appears your game isn't going to quite fill up in the next few days. I think I will go ahead and start up MXVI on the drafting processes this week so that the game is ready to be played starting next Sunday. You ok with that? I think if you then started your game at least one game day after the start of MXVI there would be sufficient time to get enough players and to not have overlap between the two games.

Absolutely okay.  I honestly didn't think I'd start before your game anyway.  If I'm full by then, we'll look to start Buffy when you are on D2 or N2.

Haha, I'm a bit busy this weekend.  I'd participate.  Also, I'll definitely host one of these over winter break.  Munch would also be in.

I've (mostly) finished the roles for my Doctor Who game!

Here some info about it:
- 13 or 14 players needed
- Role Madness! Everyone has a power role! Some of these roles specific to the setup
- Flavor! The game is very flavorful! (though you don't have to have seen Doctor Who to play)
- Instead of Mafia having to kill all the Town members, they just have to kill 1, The Doctor. Well, kill him twice. When he dies the first time, his power and role name will 'regenerate' into another random Town member.

I will need someone experienced with Mafia to quickly look it over and deem the set up balanced. There is some wonky stuff in here.

Signups will be posted once Volt's game gets going.

I also had an idea for a BM game.

Nothing too crazy, just with everyone who wants to play sending me what power they want to be in the game (either real or fan-made), me tweaking it (if necessary), and then deciding your alignment.
