So, yes. I have to apologize to everybody for my sudden vanishment around, uh, several months ago? February? March? People tried to reach out to me several times and I was wholly non-responsive, which is not cool and I make no attempt to excuse myself.

So what happened? Basically:

(1) there was a personal life crisis that occurred suddenly and supplanted most everything leisure-wise and a lot of things non-leisure-wise in my life at the time;

(2) that, thankfully, got satisfactorily resolved (and I would prefer not to go into details other than that), but as a result I had to refocus my time and energies on non-leisure things (like, y'know, work and family) and thus STILL had precious little-to-no leisure time for several months thereafter; and

(3) I had no idea how to come back here, hat in hand, munching on crow.

We can thank Dominion: Guilds for my return, as I just today realized it was released (I haven't played Dominion since my vanishing either), and that made me realize I really needed to come back and rejoin this great community.

...and yeah I've got a lot to catch up on, and PMs to read, and threads to enjoy. Not promising I can sign up for a game - yet - but we will see.

So: I'm back. Again, my apologies to all for disappearing.

If you all don't lynch me by day's end I will be sorely disappointed.

Survivor looks TOO complex for my easing-back-into-things status... but you know what looks perfect? Arch's game. For which I've just /inned. A 13-player game, with an intriguing but not TOO complicated gimmick to the roles - that's exactly what I need right now.

I am definitely going to limit myself to one Mafia game at a time for the reasonable future, though. Maybe, maybe, alongside one non-Mafia game (cough 7 Wonders cough). I still remember my game suffering greatly when trying to juggle multiple games at once - would like to avoid that if at all possible.

Greatly looking forward to rubbing shoulders with old companions while also getting to know the many new faces on the forum. So glad to see things are going strong!

You could check out the Shakespeare game that we ended up running (ashersky decided to take it over). It was amazing! Even though I lost (as scum), it was one of the best games I've played on here.

I saw VERY briefly that ash took that over, of which I wholeheartedly approve, and am very glad to hear it was a wild ride. I'll definitely be reading that journey with great interest.

Question: have there been any heavily-Dominion-themed games since my vanishing? Those have always been some of my favorite reads. (Especially for those I've had the pleasure to mod.)

Yes! My follow-up hosted game, Mafia XXII: Bankers Beware, was Dominion themed. Like Mafia XI, it pushed the boundaries into role madness territory (too much so for some people, which I can't really disagree with, so we are stricter about dialing down the craziness in regular games now).

I've been running a couple of Room 25 games, which is not Mafia, but it does have an interesting traitor element to it.

I haven't been planning to start a new one yet, but I may consider it.

There's still some finger-pointing and accusations, but it's nowhere near as intense as a Mafia game.

Hmm, IIRC we finished that one RMM game where we kept shifting the theme. We were co-modding with Galz's on his noir setup when you disappeared (that's one to catch up on) and after that I hosted an actual bastard game named "Conspiracy Theories". It was pretty great. My favourite part was when almost the entire town claimed werewolf.
