Is any more information about this expansion available anywhere?  I looked on BGG and RGG but couldn't see anything.

Random guess: Rising Sun - Dawn - The reverse version of Night, used by many fan card ideas.

Dawn cards have issues like having to be feature a second type lest they are dead when you don’t have them in hand at the start of your turn. Also, they can be simply emulated like with Clerk.

So I guess that the name just reflects the Asian theme and has nothing to do with the mechanics.

Personally, I don't think an Asian theme will fit Dominion. It is very Medieval-Euro.

Depends on how it’s done. I think Asian themes fit in better than the Roman theme of Empires. Plenty of cards already have an Asian theme - Farmland and Margrave come to mind right away. Margrave is particularly significant since it’s a VERY European word yet features some random Asian guy.

Hinterlands feels like Middle East for me, except for Mandarin. If the next one comes to Far East, it's quite exotic.
Sorry, I am not meaning any complaints, just curiosity.

I dunno I could see Samurai, Ninja, Monk, Hanging Gardens, Throwing Star, Katana, Origami, Mongol Horde, Abacus, Typhoon etc being neat cards that would fit into the general dominion ethos.

First announce of the expansion
There is in fact a new expansion on the way, called Rising Sun. My best guess is March 2024, but as usual I will know more in say February. And there's a promo coming called Marchland (no relation to the month or expansion), which I expect will be in an issue of Spielbox, and all the other promos are available in English from BoardGameGeek so I don't know why this one wouldn't be.

IIRC spielbox says the promo is promoting the new expansion, and the promo's name sounds like a victory card, so are we finally getting more victory cards in this expansion?

The promo is not promoting the new expansion, except to the not-what-you-meant degree that you can say that any promo promotes nearby expansions.

While Dominion's art style could get away with it very easily by using only public domain art, the legal risks of putting out AI-generated art trained on living artists' work would be a potential legal nightmare. And good luck guaranteeing that your AI model only used art from the public domain.

August! I've seen the proofs (and proofread them); I'll know a more precise date when it actually ships. Jay thinks August is extremely likely though.

With a shipping date in place, we now expect Rising Sun to reach the Chicago warehouse... September 1st. Meaning people will get it late that week or early the next week. That puts previews at August 26th.

In a surprise move, the date has moved up rather than down. Previews will be August 5th-9th. Digital versions are allowed to go public on the 10th or 12th (or later if they don't make those dates). It will be sold in Europe (in English and German) starting after the 15th; it may take a few days before it wends its way, but you know. And it will show up in the hands of US players in late August (if the boats don't sink and all that).

Awesome! I also wanted to note that I really like the previews, and I was sad to not get them when the rulebook leaked last time. So this is my official vote for "previews no matter what".

Was just thinking , if the prophecy landscape cards , have tokens on them at the start , and the Omen type cards say +1 Sun token  , does it not make more sense to instead say -1 Sun token? (since you are taking away tokens from the prophecy pile and not adding tokens to the pile?)

Perhaps the idea is the passing of a day? A day passes, the prophecy comes close to fulfillment
