I totally get your point that the number 1 is absolutely the lowest.

The only thing I can think of is that normally Drafts are run on ladder schemes, so the term "highest draft pick" normally would be used to obtain something/someone of the highest value.

What point are you trying to make here? Is it:

1. The setup isn't confusing
2. The setup is confusing

Because if it's 1, I don't see how your arguments support that conclusion and if it's 2, I don't see why you are replying to me considering that we agree.

I guess not taking PPS out when there's so much uncertainty over the sword-stick issue would be pretty bad to suffer as town if he does indeed turn out to have been scum.

I think it's a shame that not more people posted answers to my earlier suggestion about clarifying what order we each though things happened in when voting, which is actually more relevant to town right now than knowing what faust means by it... and if we don't do it before nightfall, the scums get a chance to talk to each other again (assuming they don't just have daychat anyway..).

I don’t think the set up is confusing, i think i have confused myself based on item descriptions and general game rules, but the drafting process seemed fairly straight forwatd.
Honestly my only intention was to help with clarification. However i am now gathering you do not need that so my bad.

What faust changed when I was confused was to phrase it in terms of numerical position. The OP now says:

After that, every player may bid on any of the items below. The player with the lowest numerical value in draft order to bid for a given slot will receive the item.

and

Some slots have penalty items. If multiple players bid for such a slot, the highest in draft order among them will recieve the penalty item instead of their original choice.

I think that is now pretty clear. If numbers 4, 7, 12, and 16 bit on one slot and 4 chose item A and 7 chose item B and 12 A or B and 16 chose whatever, then 16 gets penalty because she is highest numerical value, and then 4 gets A and then 7 gets B and 12 gets nothing. It's kinda confusing but not that confusing.

I still think it's pretty confusing. Clearly, lower number = good.

The confusing part is what "highest in draft order" means. I thought it means best in draft order, i.e. lowest number. Kind of like how Dan Brooks is the highest on the Dominion leaderboard because he has the lowest rank.

I think you misunderstood some things (@Dylan)

It's as if silver was giving a way that pps could use the sword stick (knowing that he was scum and still could) in a way that would look towny for listening. Later, he says:

I didn't know at the time that the item didn't work for town.  Thinking it does, I suggested a way to use it.
Literally two posts above yours pps confirmed that it was broken and he couldn't use it. That's the main thing that made that stick out to me.

Ok, I read that as you would believe he screwed up reading the thing as town, not screwing up as in messing up a scum claim. I'll buy that.

How is knowing who got slot 1 low drawback?

That is like asking why is it not bad to shower. Why would it be bad? I only asked to claim one position, not the item. So exlaim to me why that is bad if you think it is.
Scum now knows that Galz got the item he took, which would make him an attractive target for stuff at night (assuming he isn't actually scum)

If position 1 is scum, they would have most likely gotten slot 3 (unless they decided to play everything the way they would play town so they wouldn't have to lie) and pps wouldn't have got the stick.

Yes, that is why claiming that is good.
Still not sure what benefit there is there for claiming, unless you think it's because pps is scum along with draft 1 (who we now know is Galz).

No; that narrative only requires scum to have gotten position 2. Position 1 could have gone to town.
If position 1 went to town and they got slot 3, no alignment in slot 2 would have claimed to have gotten slot 3. Only way pps claims slot 3 is if a) regardless of alignment, he got it, or b) he is scum/draft 2 and scum!slot 1 actually won slot 3.

Answers in bold. I admit my earlier thoughts and read on silver were probably wrong IF pps flips town. Even if not, a couple misunderstandings definitely make it weaker than I thought it was. Back to null I guess... 

I still stand by the draft 1 claim being bad. I still think that was better for scum than town from an info perspective.

I agree that the Ghacob wagon has the worst looking voters but I also think his lynch makes the most sense in light of what we learned today. So even if it is a scum driven mislynch I see it as informative. Also, if I am not mistaken, we have to lynch somebody today, right?
