Yes man!!!
Though I seriously didn't expect that. Haddock, you are officially weird now :P

But the refusal to self hammer was just scummy, would have gone for him all out tomorrow.
I don't get it.  Why am I weird?

It was nearly impossible for me to win the game.
I was on the Seprix wagon because WE HAD PLANNED FOR HIM TO USE THE FREAKING ONE RING TO MAKE HIM UNLYNCHABLE.  FUCK.
I could have fakeclaimed from the wrong game.  But it didn't occur to me.  2 reasons:
1) I'd spent the entire game setting up my fakeclaim from my game to make it believable.
2) Arch still hadn't gameclaimed so it was still a risk.
It just didn't occur to me that being a Priest meant I was confirmable as scum once I'd gameclaimed.  Dumb, I guess.  But one tends to assume when playing these games that the setup doesn't allow for mod-confirmed scum roles.

I don't know what you're saying about the refusal to selfhammer.  I COULDN'T selfhammer...

He's talking about your reaction to lynch, cause it was clear WIFOM. We were really sure there's one other scum :)

It wasn't intended as such.  I was just frustrated and venting.  I wasn't originally going to mention my confidence that Arch was an SK, I felt that town didn't really deserve the win.  But I just went ahead and vented.  That comment made no difference anyway, cos you thought it was WIFOM.  Which I kinda expected.

It should have been fairly clear that there wasn't a 4th scum though.  From the way I'd been talking, partly, and also because Arch was likely SK at that point, so a 4th scum would have meant 6 nontown players.

Hmm, I think you should have claimed in any situation from another game. The chance of hitting a used game was 31/11 even right at the start, I think that chance was worth it. Either way, you played really well except that claim.

I don't think 1/3 of instant 1 on 1, moreover with uneven odds, is worth it.

It is, the chance that someone gets to the conclusion that letting you hammer is good is greater than a third.

The fact that this conversation is happening proves that it's a setup problem.

Bold statement time:

Scum should never have to choose between a 1/3 chance of a 1v1 early in the game (guaranteeing their eventual lynch) or a >1/3 chance of being conf!scum via a day mechanic.
...
I guess that needs a caveat of "in the absence of investigative results or similar".

I want to reiterate, though, I still think it was great game, well put together by mail-mi.  Just a shame about that one thing.  It might not even have been a problem if we hadn't lost two scum players almost straight away.

« Reply #2336 on: October 17, 2016, 09:13:56 am »

This game totally died at the end. There were definitely some balance issues with the game (scum really needed a buff) and there were a lot of minor and major interactions I didn't notice.

However, I think a lot of this could have been fixed with a more active and helpful comod. It's always good to have two sets of eyes looking at things. Please don't take offense to this ash, but (if I keep playing when I get back from my 2-year mission) I won't be inviting you to comod any RMMs I create in the future. You just didn't really help at all when this setup really needed it, and I didn't notice that fact.

Pretty rich of you to blame a game dying off at the end on the lack of an active co-mod.  Wasn't like I was going to post on behalf of the players.

I take no offense to your disinvitation as long as you take no offense to this: it was hard to care more about this game as "designed."  You showed me very early on you had clear visions for this setup - which is absolutely fine as it is your game - but you did not really want any true criticism.  I tried to warn you, but your reaction turned me off.  That's why I hid the QTs and let you do your thing.

I don't ask for co-mods on games I design (with the exception of Yuma, who happens to be on the same design wavelength).  Then I own all the mistakes and missteps I make in designing and modding - from your role in Dune making everyone mad to just plain missing orders - and never blame the co-mod.  I suggest you do the same.

Ash, I'm sorry, that was a post made late at night that really shouldn't have been said. I know I was belligerent and headstrong during development. I know I usually am that stubborn and im working on it in non-mafia game things too. I wasn't at all trying to blame you, especially not for the inactivity. Those mistakes were my fault and I should have done something about them. And I'd love to have you comod another setup in two years with the realization that I can be pretty headstrong and stubborn.

Also, @Haddock, it was only misplayed by you from a mod's perspective, not yours. Sorry, I should have clarified.

Day 4 and Day 5 end of days were perfect mafia. Lots of back and forth and having to figure out a difficult puzzle.  Arch voting Lalight after I said it would let scum!silver win the game convinced me to vote for him.  He should have had some worry that silver could have been scum.

I think this deserves a chance at best setup if we're doing that this year.

Reads from my QT:

Quote
LaLight is town, calling it now.

Quote
Archetype for scum, too.

Quote
Oh, Faust is scum because...

Quote
Pretty sure Iguana is town...

I kind of considered Arch town after the whole Faust thing, but I was still considering Mafia partnerships at that point.

Impressive that town went for him in the end.. I only skimmed the later days, but I was still writing him off as very likely town.. guess I really didn't think a lot about an SK.

I also didn't have a read on Haddock.. for some reason I wasn't paying much attention to him this game.

He was the obvious choice :)
Though it has been way more tight at the end than I would have liked it to be.

It wasn't, it was good whether he was likely to be scum or not. I pushed for it because it was the only lynch that guaranteed town another lynch. Luckily efhw and lalight followed my reasoning short before deadline :)
