I'm fine with it, I just personally would feel kind of cheap to do too much research.  That way lies madness for me. :P  I mean, if I hadn't searched, I wouldn't even have gotten the first two words.

You could also call it laziness.  I don't mind at all how much you guys want to research.  And if I get desperate I may go back and read up on Campese.

I mean, I haven't googled for longer than a minute for anything. Like, last time I had an inkling there could be a My Little Pony character that has something to do with the moon, so I googled MLP moon, and took the first match. That's the kind of googling I've done. I also feel going too deep can cause problems as well, I think even happened in one of the early games we had for someone, but I don't remember how it went exactly. So it's a tricky balance.

Right, that's about how I've been treating it.  I was like, "who is David Campese?"  He's an Australian rugby player.  I kind of skimmed a bit more of the wiki article but didn't glean enough to guess at the third word.

There's no clear line of how much is "allowed" and it's not so enforceable anyway so I'm totally cool if you guys want to spend a lot more time looking stuff up.  I'm just probably not going to do it myself! :)

I don't really mind.  Spymaster shouldn't be conveying information to the team other than through clues, but the team (even though in this case it's just one person) is free to discuss among themselves, for which the Spymaster is present the whole time.  I said a few things earlier too, re: holding off on a third guess for David Campese.

Yes, I think this should not be done. I don't mind ehalc explaining his pass earlier, but straight up saying what clues you will take gives way too much information to the spymaster. I mean, you could then also just say: "If you want me to pick X, give a Y clue." That's no fun.

Well, setting up codes like that is unreasonable.  But I'm going from my experience IRL, where players will say stuff like, "I really think it could be X or Y, but I'm not confident enough so I'll pass for now".  It seems fine to me.

...granted, I did go out of my way not to mention which word I was thinking, just in case others might object.

I feel like often you don't want to say which words you are thinking because you don't want the other team to know which words you think are yours. Table talk by the guessers is encouraged, and I wouldn't say stuff like include a d in your answer if the fourth word is involved.

From my experience IRL, you can be completely wrong and say I will guess this or this, so add 2 numbers to whatever clue you were going to give. The spymaster had no way to convey that the two you were planning on guessing we're completely wrong
