That is the question. Unfortunately, I don't have a great handle on the word "coil"... like I know roughly what it means, but not the common usages. That is why I messed up earlier I think. Still, let me try...

I was actually thinking about coils being used in medicine. I have done community service at a hospital where they used these kinds of things.

Speaking of which, we should decide whether to allow homophone-based clues.  I thought the rule was a hard no, but it is actually in the variants part of the rules and we just failed to discuss it here.  If it's allowed, Red should have locked in the win with gkrieg's original clue, which was South Korea: 2.
