That's why I probably wouldn't allow unagi. While it is a type of sushi, it is just a Japanese translation for eel.
It does boil down to whether or not the opposing spymaster has a problem with it. I played a real-life game with my wife, and she wanted to give maneki-neko as the clue. It was a little more difficult being that she didn't know the exact word, but she asked me if that waving cat would be a valid clue. We looked it up on Google, and I figured that it was valid. I was lucky on that one because the person who spent years in Japan was on my team and not hers.
I forgot about (or overlooked) the rule about English words. With the globalization of language, that rule can be a little difficult to interpret. So again, ask the other spymaster.
