I would say both of these roles are somewhat bastard unless explicitly stated in the setup.  Which I read.  Maybe not tree stump so much, but that role just sucks.

Why are Survivors 'premium lynch targets?' They can basically be a townie.

At least in one game faust claimed survivor and he was allowed to live before he betrayed us all to the scum 

As to why survivor's are prime lynch targets. If they are allowed to live and the balance of the game shifts, they'll just side with scum.

Lynching third parties doesn't hurt town all too much (although it's still a wasted lynch)  and it's a decent fakeclaim for scum since it explains why their actions are scummy.
