Engine pieces for colony games

It was mentioned at the general Dominion forum that Colony games are relatively *more* dependent on treasures over pure engines, because of the importance of Platinum.

This is 2015, though. Who even buys gold anymore? I mean really. So, if you were to design an action card intended for use in Colony games, that would provide money and reduce the reliance on Platinum, how would you go about it?

Does the card provide a 1/N% chance of actually using plats and colonies, or 100% chance? If it's the former, than providing an amount of coin that competes with plat could be oppressively good in Province games.

Maybe you'd want something slow to get rolling to make it too much of an investment for Province games, so like

Scavenger Hunt
3$ Action
+1 Action, +1$.
Reveal cards from the top of your deck until you reveal a Scavenger Hunt and put that card into your hand.  If you didn't reveal a Scavenger Hunt, +1 Buy.  Discard the other revealed cards.

(There are forty Scavenger Hunts)

What's interesting is that as a general rule, this would be worse than Platinum due to the draw-dead possibility. But the fact that it's in the same set as King's Court could make it really strong.

Oppression: - Action
You may play an Action Card from your hand thrice. Trash it. Gain an Action card costing exactly more than it.

Cost $6 (?) - Action
+2 Cards. Discard a card. Gain a spoils into your hand. Discard this.

I used spoils because if you're playing this a few times per turn like you're meant to, it get could confusing trying to remember how much coin it gave you if it said "+$3. Discard this."

Well, it can also be Thorned or Kinged, it can help with draw-to-x, and it can also lower the price of Pedddler, not get hit by Thief or Pirate Ship, and activate Conspirator chains.

Easy to go infinite with either Action token or Chanpion. Why bother having you discard it? It just seems like a weird way of upping the power, most of the time it won't make any difference anyway.

*Edit* Actually using Spoils instead of +$3 also stops you from going infinite, because at best you can gain all the Spoils. Also, wording needs "from the Spoils pile".

That looks like fun! I have wanted an action card with "Discard this" for some time. I might design it so it doesn't have "+cards" - those make it much easier to infinite as long as you have +action to spare (until you hit the spoils limit), but great concept.
