I'm pretty sure the bitching about Mine/Mint jokes is a lot more prevalent than the jokes themselves at this point.
It's a meta-gag, then, like explaining jokes. Isn't it hilarious?
I don't get it.
Let me explain it, then:
Beginning some time ago, people started making lengthy, boring explanations for gags they did whenever somebody didn't get the original joke. Those explanations were soon considered some kind of meta-joke, that is, a joke about a joke. Consider overly-lengthy jokes, a Seth MacFarlane specialty, where a scene is stretched so much that it's not funny anymore, and this scene gets stretched even more so that some consider it becoming funny again. Explaining jokes work on the same premise that doing something that is inherently un-funny becomes fun if people know it's supposed to be funny. In this concrete case, the meta gag is that some people might consider it superfluous and unfunny to repeatedly critizise the use of a gag that they feel isn't done as much as the act of critizising it. Under the meta-gag premise, this kind of overdoing something unfunny to a gag becomes a gag again. As - if you don't consider Mine/Mint jokes annoying - it works on the same premise as explanation jokes, this makes Anti-Mine/mint-jokes-complaints a meta-joke of their own.
My claim that such meta jokes were hilarious is itself a joke, by the way. Shall i explain it?
