They dominated in the beginning.

I would argue that conservative play by scum dooms them in this setup.

I am brainstorming how to strengthen scum a bit.

I went balls to the wall against my partner here. Didn't work so great, either.

Well it made me change my initial scumteam... I guess you had to make me stop thinking that to have any hope... I just didn't change my reads enough for it to work out.

yeah, I mean, I didn't feel like the setup was unfair or anything, we just didn't perform well as scum.  And town [liopoil] really jumped on us hard for it

I think people have a way inflated idead of how good I am at playing town, so I probably wouldn't get picked (which is great, I love being VT).

Right. ICs actually aren't that important in this setup in a way. The most important skill for a townie is the ability to make yourself obvtown, like lio did here. So in that sense, scum choosing the ICs wouldn't be insulting at all... maybe it's a good idea, idk.

Scum choosing the ICs probably also could explain why they won so many games at first. The process of IC selection seems to have a significant factor in the outcome (maybe, sample size isn't actually large enough, whatever)

The problem with scum choosing ICs is that it could become unfun. If someone is a bad IC so scum keep picking them...that's not great for that person if they want to keep playing Blitz games. It also allows the system to be gamed a little (although maybe that's intentional) because if said person is in a game and not the IC, well then clearly they're scum.

I hadn't decided what I would do.  I was hoping whomever was voted IC would have been IC anyway from random.org, since that would have been an epic troll by the luck gods.

In the end, I rerolled everyone (1-7) and assigned roles that way.

I also left it ambiguous as to whether one or both ICs would be chosen by vote.  Chairs got one vote, I think.  But random.org chose him.
