I know there are many more attack cards in the game than these 6 in the poll, but these were some of the more powerful ones, so I thought it'd be interesting to see which among these were the most hated.

Not because they are my least favorite ones (besides Cultist), but Witch, Cultist and Amb deserve definitely to be mentioned in this list, imho.

EDIT: Voted for Swindler, because of it's randomness. But if available, I'd go Cultist

Ok I've added it. I really only put up the ones that came to mind, besides the ones already suggested.

Scrying Pool is also a card that you might want to add, the attack isn't very powerful but the card is and the attack makes it annoying.

I voted for Ghost Ship.  It is so frustrating.  On the other hand, in the right kingdom you can devise some really beautiful counters which can turn your opponent's Ghost Ships into a boon.  And that is one of the best feelings in the game.

Mountebank and Witch are missing. I can't really explain why, but I find Witch way more painful than Sea Hag.
Familiar is also very frustrating, for the opening randomness…

Otherwise, Minion.

I think Cultist and Swindler are the most swingy attacks. Someone getting a 5/2 with Cultist usually means game over. Many times I have lost the ruins split 8/2 when an opponent opened Cultist. And, we all know how Swindler is swingy.

I went for swindler as it can be really hard to create a plan against swindler. You have to make more decisions based on the current game state instead and this removes something from Dominion that I like. The Goko bots play swindler quite well (compared to some of their other play) because only ever look at the current game state, and it isn't just them getting lucky.

Ghost Ship.

Not only is it annoying to be attacked with it is the least satisfying card to attack your opponent with. Compared to forming a good Minion deck or a Torturer-village deck or getting your Ambassador rolling or any cursing card. I think all of those are much more satisfying from the attacking point of view than Ghost Ship.  Ghost Ship is just plain boring mean and like TA said it just drags the game out. And at least Militia keeps the game moving forward on a bit more. I agree that finding a counter to it is fun but that doesn't make up for the negativity around

Cultist! Because even when you both go for it, you're more likely to split the Ruins 7-3 than 5-5 (or at least it seems like that).

The reason I voted for Ghost Ship is the bonus.  If there are no villages then good luck ever having a hand of more then 5 cards for the rest of the game.  I would like GS a whole lot more if it had another bonus like +1 action, +$1.  This would allow you to attack each turn but still play another terminal in the absence of villages.

Most of these I can easily brush off the power of the attack as it does right what is says on the card and I don't get much if any choice about it.  Torturer on the other hand is so frustrating to choose a mode and have to anticipate whether or not they're going to play another one. Unnecessarily punishing myself feels bad man.

Familiar should be in there, I would have voted for it, no question.

Ghost Ship is annoying, sure, but there are ways to fight it and at least you have to build an engine for it to be really good. Knights, though... I hate Knights game. Hate them.

Why do people find Minion annoying ? Once they get 4-5 of them, just don't look at your opening hand.

I am very surprised with all the Ghost Ship hate. It is not that strong of an attack, nor is it really at that swingy.

exactly. It just isn't fun to attack with or be attacked by. It is just plain, boring mean. Either it isn't that important or it makes the game last 3x longer than if it wasn't around. I have no problem with cards that increase swing.

I completely agree with yuma.  This poll is not about what is the best attack here, but which one do you really not like.  Ghost ship has the potential to make really slow, boring games.  Which are not fun.  Which is why it is my least favorite of these cards

What makes Ghost Ship okay for me is that you have control over it. Yes, it's not fun to be Ghost Shipped to death, but the guy had to build an engine to make that happen, which gave you time to do other stuff to make your deck resilient to it (or build your own Ghost Ship Engine). What's frustrating to me about cards like Familiar and Swindler is that they are swingy in ways you have very little control over.

The thing about Ghost Ship is that it slows the game down.  Dramatically so, going BM against GS requires oodles of Gold.  Engines require specific counters or just really strong engines to overcome the top-decking.

It's annoying, but not for reasons outside of player control.  Things that are swingy like Swindler, Cultist and Sea Hag are so much worse as the game can change completely due to luck.

I can understand that, particularly in competitive play.  But I don't play competitively.  For me Ghost Ship is more annoying precisely because I do have some control.  Sea Hag, Swindler etc. are more or less out of my control.  But with Ghost Ship, I have that decision to make of which cards to put back.  Do I make the best out of a three card hand, or do I gamble on putting back my best cards and hope for better luck next hand?  It is a more grueling decision for me than Torturer usually is, and it doesn't end like Torturer does when the Curses run out.
