A league
DG 4 - 2 Mic Qsenoch

Big win here! I think this cuts Mic's lead to 1 game for the championship match.

Dominion Articles / Re: Challenge: write a Moat article

Moat gets a lot better with more players, but we don't talk about those types of games much here.

79
No... Poor use of language.

The Vassal hits Necropolis, then you play Market Square separately.

80
I think Festival is most accurately equated to a Vassal that hits a Necropolis plus a Market Square.

Hey, it's that guy that thinks this is the Kingdom Builder forums or something again.

I stumbled across another rule question recently.

You made a ruling (here) about playing with Families and Temple that says when you have 4 or 5 mandatory action placements due to using Temple on the previous turn only the 'non-Temple' 3 placements are required to be in a straight line to score Families.

I was wondering about the situation where you choose the Swamp terrain type from Marshlands, and have an extra Settlement (or 2) from Temple. I'm uncertain if this should be allowed to score points with Families.

Your first comment is a pretty clear 'no':
Quote from: Donald X.
Families doesn't care about the extra settlement, doesn't look at it.

But your second makes me want to ask just to be sure (emphasis mine):
Quote from: Donald X.
The rulebook .pdf I am looking at says "all 3," so it has to be 3 for you to get the points.

I played a few games the other day with the selection set of Empires plus the new second edition cards. We got Charm, Royal Blacksmith, and City Quarter. It was Cwazy.

Do you think the limited availability of the chits in Kingdom Builder is a good change that was made when adding them for tracking?

Would you have provided chits for each player of it was feasible?

(This would obviously change the strength of canoe now, but that ability obviously post dates the chits.)

Necro this awesome game. ;)

Man I am disappointed I missed the Harvest announcement, because I probably want that new empty big box.  Marshlands fit in the original one just barely. I wonder if it will be possible to get an empty big(ger) box in any other way.

I made a randomizer for this game because it is awesome.

The Big Box had multiple languages (4ish?), but also came with rule books in each one.  Possibly something got mixed up there?

No ideas on the bags... Free bags I guess. They are for you to pack your lunch in.

Rules Questions / Re: Baths, Posession
« on: January 21, 2017, 10:12:18 pm »
So, this happens between turns. Another question is, when the game ends without gaining cards (like Possession), does the last turn-player take 2vp, or miss that?
Tentatively they don't get the VP.

I can see the reasoning here, but I would be very surprised if that's how most people would expect it to work. Even after your first answer here, it wouldn't have ever occurred to me to question the giving of VP after the game has ended (Granted, I think Possession is the only possible way to end the game without gaining anything).

I have been playing a lot of Kingdom Builder lately. My questions are do you feel it's necessary to have caves tied to the tavern or would rolling a d20 be fine. For the island, you recommend the harbor and the lighthouse if you want to see it more frequently. Do you feel the island should be tied to these two quadrants or do you think it's fine to roll a d20 to see if it comes up and assign it to whatever boards pop up?

And, finally, my last question is about Task cards. Why do they have to be tied to the quadrants from crossroads? Would rolling a d20 to decide if task cards come up alter your vision of how they should be played? Also, why do you play with 0-4 task cards? Why not 0-1? Just asking because when I had two crossroads boards and two task cards, a friend of mine was suffering from AP.

Hey, I'm not Donald, but I've been playing more recently, and thinking more about how to randomize without tying to specific things like you are talking about.
I randomize all these things by throwing them into a randomizer with all the boards.
They select like Dominion events. If you hit one, use it and keep going until you have 4 boards. The things I toss in the randomizer are:
All the boards
4 "task cards" (pick a random one for each one that comes out)
2 Capitals
Caves
The Island (randomly pick a side if it comes out)

I haven't used this too many times yet, but it feels pretty good.

If you think you'd like this method and happen to have everything, I have a rough first pass of my randomizer live:

Being able to remove things you don't own is coming eventually, but I'm not sure when.

Kingdom Builder: ...and this Canoe business...

You probably already did somewhere, but can you explain what you do differently with Canoe?

In Kingdom Builder: Marshlands, Getting both Refuge or Fountain tokens "upgrades" the ability.  If I take the second one on my turn before using the first one, is the first ability "upgraded" immediately, effecting my move this turn, or is the "upgrade" not available until the next turn like the tile?

Similarly if I take the second Temple tile before my mandatory action, can I use the ability this turn?

I made a scoreboard to use when streaming championship matches, and now it is cleaned up, on the web and ready for anyone who wants to use it.

Security doesn't really come into it (unless you do something really tricky maybe, I'm not an expert here). The implementation has to tell your web browser to render an image, and it can't simultaneously restrict access to that image.  You can look at the source your browser is rendering when you are in a game and find the path to the art assets.

I won't post any links here unless someone with authority says it is fine to put the images on the wiki. The images are technically openly accessible, so it seems like it would be fine, but I don't want to assume.
Shuffle it does no use that big resolution as Making Fun or Goko.

I guess this is true, but the card image I checked seems plenty big for the wiki.
It is 287x209 as compared to the MilitiaArt.jpg on the wiki, which is 354x261.

I would approve of d), ideally with easy access to the old scans.

Alternative, highly impractical option: use raw art assets, raw card text, and card templates to generate card images.

Dominion League / Re: Season 19 Dates & Discussion

If the game cannot proceed without an undo and no information has been revealed, then it should be granted.

If information has been revealed, we will evaluate on a case by case basis. (If the opponent feels an unfair advantage has been gained, grant the undo, finish the match, and report the details to the moderating team.)

I do not expect game breaking bugs to last very long, so hopefully this will not be a frequent occurrence.

These rulings are temporary and subject to change as soon as the moderating team discusses the undo feature.

The moderator team will discuss this and add something to the official rules. For now, the default implementation is fine. No players should feel obligated to grant an undo for any reason.

Dominion Online at Shuffle iT / Re: "Features" threads
« on: November 29, 2016, 07:58:11 pm »
Dominion players in the league can already agree to a 3-3 split without a draw feature. Yet, as far as I am aware this does not happen and is not a concern, and so neither is an explicit draw feature.

Doing this would actually be in violation of the most recent revision of the League Rules & Regulations That were updated in May.

VI. Playing Competitively

All players in the league are expected to complete all of their matches as competitively as possible. There are times when it may appear that your remaining games cannot effect your standings, but this is very seldom the case. The average points per player in a full group each season is 15, and 6 points are at stake in each match. In some groups, the difference between 1st and 6th place has been less than 2 points at the end of the season.  Even if your personal promotion/demotion status is guaranteed, it is still not acceptable to complete games non-competitively. It is possible for the result of any match to determine the fate of another player by way of the 2nd tiebreaker points. It is unfair to other players in your group if you do not complete your matches properly. Players who are found to have forfeited games or matches, colluded with other players, or posted results that were non-competitive in other ways may be banned from the league for up to 4 Seasons depending on the severity of the offense. Repeat offenders may receive a longer ban period or be permanently banned from the league.  If anyone suggests recording a result that you feel is in violation of this policy, please report it to your League moderator immediately.
