Isn't a Ruined Moat simply a Bridge?

When the Guild speculation brought up the card name Stonecutter, i tried to think of what that card would do, and a mix of Woodcutter and Quarry seemed logical. It had to be balanced, of course, so i thought "Why not replace one of the +2$ from Woodcutter with a cost reduction like Quarry? Maybe make it 4$ and instead of a Treasure make it an action - you could reduce all cards costs instead of only actions, then." I ended up with this:

Stonecutter
Action, 4$
+1$
+1 Buy
All cards (including cards in the players hands) cost one less this turn.

Do you think that would be balanced?

Isn't this bridge?

EDIT: Ah, okay. Sorry, missed the joke. Should read more carefully....

Okay, so the current version requires Colony (and therefore Platinum), Potion, Ruins, the Madman and Spoils piles, a Bane, Prizes, the Black Market deck, and VP chips, all for one card in an 11-card pile. It's also an Action, Attack, Knight, Victory, Duration, and Looter, and puts the Curses into play.

The only things it's not are Treasure and Reaction, and the only things it doesn't require are the Native Village mat and the Mercenary pile, correct? I suppose you could also count Shelters. Anything else? Anyone care to attempt to add some/all of those?

Forgot Island, Pirate Ship and Trade Route mats.
All of those things could be in too if you had them in the black market deck.

So with no extra actions this is basically Remodel BUT if you forgo the gaining from turn to turn then it can become a Super-Remodel. In an engine with plenty of actions you could stack four of these to turn a Copper into a Province. Also, KC-Butcher turns an Estate into a Province just by itself.

It will be interesting to see how other cards from the set which also give out physical coins will interact with this. There must surely be more than one coin-giver in the set (I'm guessing 3, since there are 3 VP chip cards in Prosperity, 3 Looters in Dark Ages) so it's reasonable to assume that you can earn them with 1 card and use them with another.

Actually, the more I look at this concept for this card, the more appealing the whole mechanic is becoming to me.

I think playing an Action during your buy phase like this is OK.  Certainly preferable to warping back to the Action phase temporarily.  Unless there's some broken interaction that I'm missing.

Well, most actions wouldn't work the way is intuitive. Since you've already bought a card, you couldn't play any more treasures if you drew them with that action you played. And unless you had some source of +Buy, you wouldn't be able to buy anything new if you played something for coins because you've already bought a card. Nearly all actions played during the buy phase after you've already bought a card are actually useless - it would be a very niche ability, useful only for a few weird combos, and just sitting there tripping people up in all the other cases.

I was envisioning going back to the action phase, starting with 1 action, and then continuing on to a new buy phase as normal, etc. Dunno,  It just seems like "play an action card during your buy phase" gives rise to lots of weird unintuitive cases that don't work the way people would think, whereas "go back to your action phase and then continue as normal" would work pretty much as intended.

Though perhaps both of these are too far out, and we'll get far simpler things than that. After all, instead of "play an action" the card could just have an on-buy ability which is equivalent to something typically found on an action.
With this whole 'play another action card from your hand' thing, it could work much more cleanly if it were phrased more like:-
$3 Super village
+1 card
+2 actions
When you buy this, you may pay $2 more. If you do, skip your clean-up phase and play another turn after this one.

Did he say "Blessed are the cheesemakers"?
What's so special about the cheesemakers?
