Like I said, I wish I had played a bunch of solo games early on to solidify the rules in my mind before the game really got rolling. As it was, I never figured out why I wasn't able to do "renovation" for the renovation then family growth tile (and a bunch of other stuff - that's just an annoying example). It probably would have been really easy to look up but I never felt the strong desire. The rulebook was enough of a pain the first time through, and most of the time I was taking a turn I was doing it hurriedly so that I wouldn't forget and delay the game. On that note, I was mostly playing the game on mobile, and the interface was just a pain. I had that one really terrible misclick early on and from there I just lost motivation.
Basically, I think there is a really solid game there but the online interface and method of learning didn't leave me wanting more, or even wanting to figure out where I'd gone wrong during the game. I expect BAJ would be fine after memorizing the game in person.
