My losing streak continues... is BM-Moneylender stronger than BM-Envoy?!?!

You should buy a Province on Turn 8. BM Envoy doesn't want three Envoys (or even two sometimes), of course the last one you bought was pretty late so it didn't hurt you here.

It looks like I already had 3 Golds at that point, so I think you're right. The general rule is to get 2 Golds before your first Province, correct? I just thought I'd build up one turn more because I didn't think his strategy would be that fast (is it normally or did he just have good luck?). The 3rd Envoy was indeed a late buy and I thought it would be more useful than Silver at that point.

IMO, cartographer is an incredibly underrated card.  Having 2 Cartographers for both cycling and setting up the next hand is no trivial thing.

Hello.  Name's Bruce.  It's all right.  I understand.  Why trust a shark, right?

Is quite curious - Who is the mystical "Celestial Chameleon"?

I gave this moneylender/cartographer/salvager thing a run and it isn't so bad. Your opponent gets full value from having a small deck with quality. When the cartographer discards a card or two it makes a big difference to the value gained from that cycle of the deck. The salvager can provide an effective finish. Wishing wells and spice merchants can provide some variation. Having said all that, it is not superb and could easily be set back by a bad shuffle.

Envoy+treasure has a good reputation because it can be lucky and draw really well, not because it delivers a reliable big money finish. You've got to take the mediocre games with the good ones.
