Salvager on potion cards

If you trash a potion card with a salvager, should you get a potion as money too ? I believe so, but Goko seems to think otherwise.

You don't. The Alchemy rules state this explicitly about Salvager.

Salvager specifically says "cost (in coins)", which means that it ignores all non-coin costs. The same happens with Forge.

Salvager does not say this. It just has "+{an empty coin symbol} equal to its cost."

That'll teach me to make a comment like that without checking the card. I know Forge does say "in coins", though. I guess a better comparison is Apprentice, which does say +1 Card per {coin symbol} it costs.

Apprentice specifically mentions Potions, giving 2 cards for each P cost.
Trashing a Familiar gets you 5 cards.

Rather, Apprentice gives +2 Cards if it has a Potion in its cost, which isn't quite the same for fan cards that cost PP.

No gratuitous edge-casing in the Rules Questions forum, dammit!

Man, I was playing IRL yesterday and tried to Forge an Alchemist and two Coppers into an Alchemist. Fortunately my sharp-eyed opponent—playing with Forge for the first time and Potions for the third time—correctly pointed out I couldn't do that.

(I almost feel bad for going on to beat her with my Alchemist/multi-Goons engine. Almost.)
