I'm always wanting to increase the number of different opponents I play when I make my videos. I have something special planned for the near future of my videos (as well as just wanting to make some more) so...

If you want to be YouTube famous, or if you just want to play some Dominion with me, say so in this thread. We'll try to find a time that works for both of us.

For me in general, evenings are good on weekdays and all day on weekends (with the exceptions being Tuesday and Saturday nights). I'm on Eastern time.

If you have Skype and want to try Skype-ing during the game, I'm up for that. I'll PM you my Skype name if you're interested. Also, I can even link you to some free video recording software if you want to try split-screening, I'll do all the editing. No experience required for any of this, and of course we can just play without any of that too and that's cool.

If you want to use this thread to meet up for YouTube games that don't involve me, I will not be offended. Please do.



EDIT: First, I added in a link to the free screen-capture software above. It isn't the best thing in the world, but it certainly gets the job done. If you want to try doing a split-screen video, we have to be talking on Skype to make that happen (we've tried it without Skype, but it's nearly impossible for me to discipline myself to only talk on my turn, while it's easier for me to not screw it up while Skype-ing).

If this is the route you want to go, the way you record audio is a little unique; I'd recommend making a test video (we can do that when we meet up if you want) where you test that all the the audio is being recorded properly. You want only your voice on your video, not my voice over Skype, but you still want to be able to hear me through your headphones. This is possible using CamStudio but you have to dig into the settings and it's sort of dependent on the type of microphone/headset/speakers/headphones you're using. One word of advice if you're having trouble is to try unplugging or disabling your webcam if you have one.

If there are any other technical questions that come up I'll try to answer them here.

Well Skype isn't my most favorite thing in the world, but in order to do a split-screen video, I'm having a hard time imagining how to do that without Skype, mostly because you don't want to be talking over each other. I suppose you could make it so that you can only talk on your turn, but you lose the safety net of having your opponent hear you when you forget (which I've done a couple of times to Qvist). Our rule was just to not mute yourself to your opponent when it wasn't your turn. OK maybe it could work.

I think I've mentioned this before but if you're interested in doing a split-screen video, there's screen-capture software out there that's free and will work for it.

I should be available Wednesday evening before 8PM my time for some YouTube games.

Here is some free recording software

Depending on what you're using for a microphone/headset, you may have to tweak your audio settings for CamStudio and Skype so that you're recording the correct audio. If we end up doing split-screen, you want to be able to hear me through Skype, but you only want your audio to get recorded on the video. I might be able to help you but maybe not, so you might try playing around with the settings before.

Some good games recorded this weekend. I've updated my channel thread with links. I also want to have an FAQ in the OP of this thread to help people get set up with screen-capture if they want to try that out. If there are any other questions or reasons why you can't get it to work, ask them and I'll try to answer them there.

You briefly mentioned a Golden Deck in the beginning, something which I totally hadn't considered. I wonder how good a Golden Deck enabler Doctor is? Probably opening either Doctor-Bishop or Doctor (for $4)-Silver.

About the Ironmonger vs. Alchemist game: without Outpost I'd have liked your strategy, as Alchemists would just be too slow, but with Outpost Alchemists are so much stronger: with 5 of them top-decked your Outpost turn is guaranteed to start with 8 cards rather than 3, whereas you have to get lucky to reveal an action with Ironmonger to then be able to play a Rabble to even get your hand-size to 5. Also definitely Scheme two Ironmongers and a Rabble for your Outpost turn, not the Warehouse.

If I'm around this weekend I'd be happy to play you again.

I haven't tried a Golden Deck with Doctor, so my word isn't worth much here, but I think that it's probably quite swingy since Doctor sometimes trashes your deck almost as fast as Chapel because of the increased cycling, and sometimes it's slow if you're not hitting the named cards. It's probably pretty good on average, but I wouldn't go for it if I already had the advantage and there was another strong or strongish strategy on the board. On the other hand I probably would try it against Stef . I'd say Doctor/Silver is certainly the better opening on 4/3, but you probably want to open Doctor/Bishop on 3/4 (not sure about this).

Let's not call it my extension. Automatch is my baby, but most of the rest is due to earlier contributors.

Hey everybody, it's been a while.

But next weekend, particularly Saturday the 7th, I'll have some time in the afternoon to play some games. I know there are several people who haven't gotten a chance to try this, and some of you have PMed me. I'll be in touch there as well, but I wanted to let the world know of my availability.
