An important difference would be for multiplayer games; you get cursed only once per turn, instead of once per player per turn. It also has a nice interaction with discard attacks; Haunted Village/Margrave would be a thing.

+3 cards or +2 coins and +1 buy

It's hard to tell whether the "or" or the "and" is in charge.  Is it always +1 buy and either +3 cards or +2 coins, or +3 cards or +2 coins and if you picked the coins you also get +1 buy?

I think it needs a comma in there.
+3 cards, or +2 coins and +1 buy

And maybe even:
    Choose 1: +3 cards, or +2 coins +1 buy

Well it was "choose one +3 cards, or +2 coins and +1 buy
But i changed it to this
         +1 buy
+3 cards or +3 coins
When you trash this you may gain an estate

Without the VP, Nobles is strictly better than a $4 card but nowhere near good enough for $5. VP is an interesting way to make the card competitive at one of the existing prices.

What? I'd buy VP-less Nobles for $5 pretty often.

I'd buy Smithy for $5 pretty often.

But Smithy is almost strictly inferior to attacks like Rabble and Margrave.  VP-less Nobles is not; the flexibility is enough that I think it isn't too weak for $5.
