Dominion - What Happens Next?

For a long time, Donald has been consistent in his message that Guilds is the last expansion planned for Dominion.  However he has stated that he might be open to making more expansions in the future if RGG requested it.

This thread/poll is to find out what you, the players, think will actually happen.  Will we get any more expansions?  If so, how many and how often?  What does the future hold for the game?

Note, I am specifically talking about the physical version of the game, not online.

I'd be very surprised by more expansions. I think Dominion has run dry of truly fresh simple card ideas. It's still possible to make new cards, but either they'll feel a lot like cards that already exist or they'll be more complicated. Even Guilds I think suffers somewhat from this problem. Donald X has shown no desire to continue making cards more complicated, and doesn't seem interested in releasing redundant cards either, so I think that's it.

What I could imagine is a revisiting of the early sets to improve the design of some cards. Donald X has pointed out some things he would have done differently with some earlier cards to make them more fun and balanced. But it's too soon now, so maybe not for a few years. A Dominion 10th anniversary box, perhaps?

And even if there were ideas, with each new expansion, there are less and less people buying it, so RGG might be unlikely to request one.

This is a DISCRETE poll; Only creator and admins can see votes.

Could you please reverse this? In general I like to see who voted what, and this doesn't look like a particularly sensitive issue where you might want to keep such things a secret.

Yes, I selected that option by accident, but now it won't let me reverse it.  Sorry, I'm a bit newb at polls

Donald has stated that he would consider doing spin-offs. As in, a set of Dominion cards that reference a component of some kind (e.g. a board); but contained in its own little game, incompatible with other Dominion sets, such that every game with this set would actually involve said component. His rationale was that he wanted to avoid the scenario where you have to set up this new component thingamajig, only to find out that this game turned out as a wharf-BM vs. witch-BM match, and nobody bought the card that used the fancy new component and the whole thing goes back in the box unused after the game.

So I voted the reboot option.

Well, he's already done one - Kingdom Builder started off as a Dominion spinoff, he's said.

I think you're expecting the 'spinoff' to be more like Dominion than it actually will be.

Regarding Kingdom Builder specifically, I think Donald expected the 'spinoff' of Dominion to be more like Dominion than it actually was. It started as a spinoff, but morphed into something else. I don't believe he considers it a Dominion spinoff, and from what I understand he still plans to make one (or more).

Clearly we're looking at it the wrong way around.

It'll be Spaceballs: Dominion.

I'm hoping we get a treasure chest expansion to tie everything together. Beyond that, I think we will get a promo here and there, but that's it. A reboot is also possible.
