Hello everyone,

It is either a bug, or the rules. However, I can't get Spoils using Smugglers on Goko. Any Ideas?

Spoils is not in the supply which cards come from when they just state "gain" (as does smugglers). So it's no bug.

For completeness sake, you can never Smuggle
- Spoils
- Madmen
- Mercenaries
- Prizes from Tournament
- Cards from the Black Market deck

Oddly enough, you can Smuggle
- A Knight, if your opponent in one turn: Gains a Knight, returns it to the pile with Ambassador and you don't gain it directly, due to having Lighthouse in play or revealing Moat
- Ruins, when the top Ruins is the same as your opponent had gained

You'll note that the wording on Workshop is the same - "gain a card" - and you can't Workshop a Spoils, either.

Specifically, any card that lets you "gain" another card without telling you where it comes from implicitly only gains cards in the Supply. Cards that are not in the Supply - those being ones with "This card is not in the Supply" on their text, and cards in the Black Market (which states that the Black Market cards are not in the Supply) - cannot be gained by these cards. In addition, none of these cards can be gained via the most common method of gaining cards, which is buying them during the Buy phase, and since they don't come from the Supply they can't be returned to the Supply with Ambassador, either (which includes Shelters).

Should I have added the "after my post, there will be a bunch of posters saying the same that I say, only they'll use more words.." commentary? Or would that have triggered a much larger cascade of posts? 

In memory of:

Talisman cannot be used to gain a second copy of a card with Potion in its cost. A bunch of people will post after this saying the same thing, but with a lengthy confusing explanation.

Yeah, sorry. As soon as I had posted it, something in my mind got triggered and I remembered it had something to do with talisman, making my search a lot easier.
