I've never played one but am I correct in understanding you can play a bot and increase your professional rating? Whaat?

And here I am doing it the hard way.

ASsuming you win against the bot, yes. And I thinthat's perfectly reasonable.

The bots' ratings rise and fall as they win and lose games, just like everyone else. Play some games against the bots. You'll lose eventually and your rating will plummet (assuming it's high).

It's also pretty hard to continue gaining Pro points from the bots, as they start giving you very few points after a while.

That's good to know. It's been a pain trying to find pro games with players since they don't want to play with someone with as low a ranking I currently have, since I haven't played many games.

You can grind up to around 4000 against bots, but it gets pretty boring (especially if you're doing it with Base only.)

Also, if you start out by playing bots instead of real people, it may take longer to reach your true rating, because you're grinding out games against ~3.3k rating players. On the other hand, by the time you reach your true rating, you'll have enough games to make your uncertainty low, so your rating will be fairly stable (as far as you can be stable on the Goko leaderboard.)

You could also play other f.ds-ers in Outpost, I'm sure they will let you play (at least I will)

I'm not sure I've ever seen someone in Outpost when I've checked (that's not very often though)

I prefer the more crowded rooms. But whenever I'm on and remembers it, I post here. I'm always up for a game if I'm able to play, but I won't sit around waiting in an empty lobby instead of playing.
