System Update 5/1/13

again i'm just the messenger here. This update seems to take care of a lot of annoying things.

source: https://getsatisfaction.com/goko/topics/system_update_5_1_13

Last night we updated the site with a number of internal improvements plus the following:

* Fixed probabilities with how often Platinums/Colonies showing up in games
* Fixed annoyance in reveal area where clicking one two cards too quickly magnifies a card.
* Fixed freeze with reveal area by forbidding card preview in the reveal area.
* Adjusted awarding of coins for Adventures: Quit or less than 8 turns is always 0 coins, Resigns treated as normal losses
* Cartographer no longer shows the cards looked at and put back in the opponent's game logs
* Hide the "Can't Gain" Lock graphic over the Grand Market when gaining a card from Haggler.
* Fixed crash that occurred if revealing Watchtower in your hand in response to a Governor choosing to gain a Gold.
* Fixed bot freeze when gaining an Inn with no action cards in the discards pile (yes, it can happen with Graverobber, Armory, Develop which top-deck Inn)
* Bots have a better idea of:
- how to play when possessing (more to do though)
- how useful prizes, Madman, Mercenary, Spoils, Rats are in hand
- when to play Thief, Fortune Teller, Remake, Cultist, Saboteur, Rabble
- when not to reveal a bane
- what to trash with Forager, Junk Dealer, Trade Route follow  5246770

Some of those internal improvements include:
* You'll see a message when the opponent has lost his connection (and reconnected)
* There should be fewer problems:
- not being able to connect
- not being able to log in
- with unwarranted declines of payment

Okay, okay...

In Soviet Russia, payment...

...no wait, wait, I got it...

...YOUR unwarranted payment was....

...no that's not it, hang on...

...your grandmother's declined....

...

...dang.

I got nothing.

Looks good, but automatch is still a "won't spend any money until they put it in" thing for me.

Thank you, Goko! Here's hoping we've seen the last of this annoying bug.

They also added credits to the loading screen. Apparently Dominion online is a game by Goko, RGG and Agility.
Who the hell is Agility?

I was wondering that myself.  Can't find anything about them online, mainly because Agility is not an uncommon word.

*checks to see if this finally fixes the massive lagging problems I have, which effectively prevents me from playing humans*

So Goko, whose entire pitch was "we can do HTML5!", is subcontracting the HTML5 work. Awesome.

This sounds like a sensible decision, actually.

They originally thought their business was having an awesome, cross-platform HTML5 platform (I think that was called FunSockets). It turns out that FunSockets was not awesome at all, and definitely not cross-platform.

They lost a lot of time trying to fix it, while a bunch of other companies came out with HTML5 platforms that actually work.

It sounds like they figured out that they're not an HTML5 development company anymore, they're a game license holding company with a couple of developers.

First thought when reading: when some cards are locked by Contraband, does the lock also go away when gaining a card with haggler?

Good question. I guess we'll find out when they release Black Market.

Ah, nevermind. Somehow I blanked on the fact that you could (and will) have your Contraband in play when Haggler's in-play effect activates. Whoops!

By the way, was there another update last night? The title screen menu is different. "Adventures" is now the top option and "Vs. Bots" (which used to be called "Single Player") is third. Makes sense, I guess.

EDIT: Though it would be nice if they had FIXED THE GODDAMN ADVENTURES before moving them to the top option. I'm pretty damn sick of trying to beat the final of Hinterlands Act 2 when my deck starts out as [5 Copper, 4 Curses, 1 Estate], and my opponents start with [1 Copper, 6 Silver, 1 Duchy, 2 Provinces]. And yeah, I use 17 (17!) zaps to get the starting hands back to something approximating normal, but that still leaves my starting hand as [3 Coppers, 2 Silvers, 5 Estates], which right off the bat makes me very, VERY susceptible to Noble Brigand in a 4-player game. GOD-F*****G-DAMMIT!

Goko has been down for at least an hour now... during a brief chat with John Q. (Goko employee) last week, he mentioned that they had finished a matchmaking system that would be released very soon.

So... fingers crossed that they're not just adding Outpost V.

I doubt it. Their facebook page says:
