What's the "Building Material" improvement that Jack Rudd took?  It isn't in his area so I assume it's one of those that gets passed?  But then I don't know what it did for him.

Watno.

"Building Material" in all its glory:

+1 Wood or +1 Clay. Pass this card to the player on your left. I used it for 1 Wood.

Not very powerful, but I wanted Start Player, and it was the only Minor Improvement I could legally play at the time. Besides, I now have the magic 5W/2R holding and can Build A Room.

Was it free to play?

Oh shoot, for some reason I thought it was 4w/2r this whole time.

Edit: if Watno takes Day Labourer now, ahoppy would have to beg, wouldn't he?  ;)

No - he could take Travelling Players/Fishing/Take 1 Grain and then eat raw grain. Or he could play Layabout, or some other Occupation or Minor Improvement that would alter the situation.

Hmmm, looks like I have a 1/3 probability of growing my family next turn. Or do I?

How do you get that probability?  And when you say, "or do I?" is that a real question, or is it a taunt because you have some other awesome occupation that makes babies for you? :P

Assuming MichaelJB doesn't use Travelling Players for the awesome effect of taking 1 Food, I can take the Build 1 Room action on it. Then next turn, you and I will be in position to use Family Growth, and you will get there first - but there's a 1/3 probability that a second Family Growth spot will show up.

(Although, come to think of it, one of those Family Growth squares also has Occupation on it, so it might get taken as a blocking move.)

Yeah, I expect it to get blocked.  But we never know! :P

When we have a baby, it grows up immediately at the end of that round, right?  And then you can use him/her?  And you have to pay 2 food at harvest time?  I read somewhere that babies only cost 1 food, but I suppose that's only if you get them right at harvest time?

Babies grow up at end-of-round, unless you have Adoptive Parents or some other ability that allows them to grow up mid-round. They eat 1 food if you haven't yet been able to take an Action with them, 2 food if you have.

They eat at Harvest only still, right?  I don't have to feed them to start?

That is correct.  If you get the family member the round before the harvest, they only cost 1 food

I am not sure why, but the interface is screwing up on me.  The chat on the right is missing, I can't see my hand, and the cards aren't clickable for me to take any action.  Suggestions?  I have tried both Firefox and Chrome...

Edit: figured it out -- I got logged out.

What's happening now?  Do we all have to choose how to fulfill food requirements in order?

Yes. In real life you'd tend to just do things all at once, but I think there are a few cards that require it to be in turn order, even though no such cards are in play right now. Technically correct and all that.
