Ironmonger & Harem

Ironmonger is a very cool card. But I found myself in a quandry with Harem in my deck. Discard or put back?
Discard = +1 action, +2 cards, + $1
Put back = +1 action, +1 card, + $3

That's more or less right, I think. Depends on the kingdom, I guess, but discarding offers better filtering and another chance at a better card to play (or at least a copper, maybe), whereas the other is more money. Hmm.

If you reveal a Great Hall, it doesn't matter if you put it back or not.

Unless, of course, you're reliably certain that, after discarding it, you'll draw that Great Hall again by some other means.  Then you'd want to discard.

Or if you have extra Buys and want to bump Peddler down another $2.

I think it depends mostly on whether keeping it on top and drawing it gets you to the cost threshold you need that turn.

I'm assuming a Treasure-heavy deck, though. I guess I don't think of Harem as an engine card.

I'd think in this case you'd want to draw it. Cantrips are bad if they are drawn again by terminal drawers. So unless you're expecting to hit it with another ironmonger...
