The Future of Isotropic

First, I want to thank dougz for all the work he's put into Isotropic over its existence. No more could be asked of anyone that what he has freely given.

Now that Dominion will no longer be hosted by Isotropic, how does the future of Isotropic look? Presumably the site itself will continue to exist (if you've never checked it out, there actually is a site that has nothing to do with Dominion, and Innovation will continue to be played. Are there plans to expand to more games? What else is in Isotropic's future?

Also, what can we, as end users, do to contribute more directly to Isotropic? If memory serves, dougz has declined financial donations in the past, but I'm sure many of us would be willing to donate towards defraying the operating costs of Isotropic. How can we ensure that this end of an era isn't the end for Isotropic?

Actually, he was accepting donations last time and you totally should if you haven't before.

Wow, who actually knew that http://isotropic.org/ is a thing.  I have only been to the dominion page of it.  Second the thanks to dougz!

Wow. I think for many of us, this is the time when we seriously think about packing it in with Dominion. I mean, it's a great game and playing DA online would be awesome, but at the same time, I keep hearing about various things that are annoying about goko and I just don't know if I care enough to make the switch.

Not to mention the fact that the advanced point counter with card counting has become sort of integral to my enjoyment of the game (or I should say, "the variant of Dominion I play") .

I might just give up and find something else that has a quality implementation.

:(

Any chance of convincing TPTB that the best possible marketing for Goko would be a nine-day bonanza of iso with Dark Ages?

You know, for all your complaining, how many of you have actually played on Goko, and are not just going by what you've heard?

Let's please not make this thread into another dominion.isotropic vs dominion.goko thread, please. Isotropic won't even be related to Dominion in a week and a half; I'd like to talk about what Isotropic will be then.

There already is a log parser for Goko that displays the log in your browser all the time and makes it look like Iso log, so I think all we need to get the advanced point counter plugin for Goko is someone willing to code it. I would definitely enjoy such plugin, but have no knowledge to make one.

It will presumably continue to be what it already is - a place where dougz messes around with things he likes.

I have played on Goko, but I haven't had much access to it.  I am going to a small college right now, and they don't have a lot of bandwidth, so in order to make the internet usable there is a proxy in the dorms blocking xbox live and such things that eat up bandwidth.  This somehow causes Goko to not work, meaning it hangs up every time I try to log in and I can't actually play on it.  So for me, Iso leaving is just a complete end to online dominion, since I can't even get on Goko...

I keep trying to go to it every once in a while.  It slows down to an insane crawl or just freezes while playing on my mac at home. Sure it's an older OS with an older version of firefox because of that, but there really should be a way to change the settings so that I can actually play.

Goko does have troubles with older browses.

And so it ends.
Not with a bang, but with a whimpern image I can't even bloody find.

Seriously, I don't doubt it, but where are people seeing this?

Seriously, I don't see it.  Even with AdBlock disabled, iso looks just like it always has...

E: Also, I'm sad about this, and this is probably the one game in the world I'm actually better than my group at, mainly through obsessive-compulsive play on Iso, but I just can;t stand the Goko interface, the point where I'd rather not play at all than play there for free.  It's a shame, because I'd love to pay for the experience I love from Iso.  But I wouldn't give Goko the time of day, let alone my money.

I guess we'll be playing more IRL games now, anyroad.

It's just below the "play without logging in" button.

If regular refresh (F5) doesn't work you can do a forced refresh (CTRL-F5) which should update the page.
