Knights and 1 card eecks

If a knight, or any other card, tells you to reveal more cards than you have in your deck, what do you do? I always shuffled my discards and kept the original 1 card on top, but never knew if that was the right choice. Maybe you don' t shuffle, and just reveal the one card?

That is the correct way!

Yes, the rules strictly say: Only shuffle when you need to.
And you need to shuffle to reveal an extra card.

You do not shuffle just yet when your draw deck is empty, only when you need to draw or reveal a card which isn't there.

I know that and have fought over that before. I just wanted to know what to do when I don't have enough for a reveal.

Any time you need something from your deck, and you don't have any cards in your deck, you shuffle your discard pile and make a new deck. This is often drawing cards, but it might be revealing the top card, or even looking at the bottom card.

The rule is to shuffle any time you need a card from your deck, for any reason, and there isn't one. In this case, you need to reveal two, you only have one. Okay, you will reveal that one. You still need one more, so: shuffle, then reveal one.

I recently had a guy (still newish, but he should have known better) try to argue that he was safe from my Swindler because his whole deck was in his discard. "I don't need a card from my deck," he said. "You do." Sorry, dude, that doesn't work.

"I don't need a card from my deck," he said. "You do."

Not even accurate; Swindler makes players trash from their own decks.

Yes; this is an apparently meaningless distinction, but it is meaningful.  You never reshuffle with cards still in your deck, nor do you top-deck the single card left.  You reveal one, then reshuffle, then reveal the second one.

If you only have a one card deck you might want to reconsider the Eeeeeeek!
