Encountered an odd level for an isotropic player

http://councilroom.com/player?player=Dicty

So what's the deal here?

Guy has played 5 games, losing four of them.  Yet he is level 28?

His one victory was against me, where I played a TERRIBLE strategy, ignoring Alchemists and the Bane card, getting stomped as I deserve.  However, he leaves the game saying "you suck, scrub".  Not one to take offense, all I do is laugh it off and then councilroom stalk him like any other normal person Dominion addict.  So today, I check him out and see his level and only 5 games played.

(btw, props to HME, aldaryn and braindead for making him resign!)

But seriously, why is he level 28 at 1-4-0?  Maybe if all of his games were against FEEDMEMORE I'd see some kind of argument for a level 28.

And the scrub comment, well... it reminds me a little of Bengoshi.  If it isn't his alt, then he's definitely channeling the Bengoshi rage.

I saw you on f.DS a few minutes ago, and as I was typing you a note in the lobby you accepted that game.  If only I'd been there a moment sooner...

you could have been kicking my butt.

He sounds like the kind of guy that's just gonna be a dicty about everything.

easiest explanation is that this player switches names regularly. isotropic level is tied to an account, but council room doesn't know this and just scrapes the player name for its data. if you check the isotropic leaderboard it says they have 4278 games.

Weird.  That was not previously the case; CR.com corralled both my usernames into one page. (Way, way, WAY back when, I'd sometimes log on as Kirian [BGGDL] if I was doing match play.)

I added special case hacks for BGGDL.  It just assumes BGGDL-foo and foo are the same player.  I (used to) love you guys ;P.

councilroom doesn't know when players make arbitrary name changes.  (OTOH, with some clever inference and multiple days of leaderboards (#games is monotonic, players rarely play more than say, 50 games in a day, levels don't vary so much day to day), it could do a good job at putting the pieces together, if someone really wanted to implement it).  Of course, if you are a good enough coder to implement that, you may as well do some interesting analysis on the real game data, instead of try to de-anonymize some small set of name hoppers.

I feel like such a foo for not knowing this.

Looks like you've figured this one out, but the other standard explanation is that Council Room doesn't report games that last less than some small number of turns, so you can hide your beating up a dummy account by having them resign first turn every game.

Sounds about right. He also tried to convince me that I'd lost, and to laugh at me for being a "novice" and (get this!) for saying "gg" after losing, when in fact I had won 31-30. He kept insisting that he was the one with 31 points, even though I had the log URL... then he tried to say some nonsense about me having forged the game record O__O

Haha, I bet it's the same guy who called me a novice who didn't know anything about the game and was a total noob. I lol'd pretty hard at that.
It's one thing to say I got lucky and didn't play that well - this might be totally right - but after 12,000 games, almost 3 times as many as him, I don't see how he can call me a novice.....
Well, maybe he's played 20k IRL or something.
