WTF went wrong here? Why can't I put together big hands with FG and Tactician?

You trashed your FG right before you got that turn. During his turn 11, you had 3 FG that you trashed. That was $11 of buying power, plus whatever you drew with the Tactician. Instead you trashed those FG and put Golds on top of the deck. Because the FG were top-decked, you also slowed your cycling, which in this case meant that your Tactician functionally gave you only +2 cards, not the +5 (because you decreased your own handsize by 3).

Before trashing FG: $11 + 5 cards and any FG in that draw are already activated.
After trashing FG: $9 + 2 cards, and any FG are not yet activated.

Even if it is $9, it becomes:

$9 + 5, FGs come in blazing
$9 + 2, first FG (if any) of these two is a dud

Still sounds like Option A is better, right?

Sorry, I counted to $11 because I misremembered activated FG as $5, not $4. But the anticycling point still stands.
