Because I like this game too much to just play in one!

This was my favorite car game of all time (based on the game show).

For an example of play, see Password I.

The rules:

Two teams of 2. Team A (with Player 1 and Player 2) and Team B (with Player 3 and Player 4).

Player 3 whispers (PMs) a word to Player 1. This is the PASSWORD. It must be a single word, no proper nouns.

Player 1 says (posts publicly) a single word CLUE. CLUEs must be a single word but may be any word (including proper nouns). They cannot contain or be a lexicographic variant of the PASSWORD: i.e., you cannot use "walk" as a CLUE for a PASSWORD of "walking".

Player 2 then has one shot at guessing the PASSWORD from the CLUE. Close variants of the PASSWORD are typically sufficient (i.e., "Walking" is good enough for "Walk").

If Player 2 guesses incorrectly, Player 3 says (posts publicly) a second single word CLUE.

Player 4 then has one shot at guessing the PASSWORD from both of the CLUEs that have been given so far.

If Player 4 guesses incorrectly, Player 1 says (posts publicly) a third single word CLUE. And so on and so forth, to a maximum of 6 CLUEs given in this manner. If after 6 CLUEs there are still no correct guesses, no one gets any points.

Your team scores points if you correctly guess the PASSWORD. You get points based on how many total CLUEs have been uttered -- 10 points after the first clue, 9 after the second, 8 after the third, 7 after the fourth, 6 after the fifth, and 5 after the sixth.

In the next round, Player 1 whispers a PASSWORD to Player 3, with Player 3 giving the first clue. Then Player 4 whispers a PASSWORD to Player 2, with Player 2 giving the first clue, and Player 2 whispers a PASSWORD to Player 4, with Player 4 giving the first CLUE. Then we repeat all over again.

(So the chain is: 3->1, 1->4, 4->2, 2->3.)

The winner is the first team to 100 points.

Eh, Ashersky and/or Ozle might be interested, and probably others as well. You should just steal Theory's opening post and make III once this one gets launched (of course, you'll have to add the "not a moderator" bit that Theory gets to leave out.

Waffles was probably because Volt thought this would be a 2 clue password, so wanted me to start. It was null.
Vengeful I don't quite get either.

The rest make sense to me though. I should've said Hinterlands instead of Dominion, but I didn't think to until afterwards.

I got it off of Marquis, Dominion, Militia.

I thought Waffles was a reference to MXII so I looked at the roles in that game when he said vengeful and I thought Marquis is noble so vengeful could be a hint to brigand which was the name of a role there

It's all good, when you guessed cappuccino I realized that THAT should have been my clue, instead I was back and forth on Espresso and Steamed (Lattes are made with steamed milk, cappucinos hot milk, macchiatos a small amount of milk)

It makes it so that the guessing pairs aren't always the same, i.e., it's not always 2 vs 4 guessing the clues from 1 and 3.

It also makes it easy -- if you get PMed the password, then you are next up for sending one.

My VERY first thought reading your clue, was "Is it an Extra Bitey Clue?"

Following these as a non-native speaker is quite entertaining. I literally have no idea what the words even mean more than half of the time.

The rules are that you give the word to a player of the opposite team, and he gets to give the first clue to his own team mate, right?

Also @Eevee and anyone else interested.

If you don't care about having a winner/loser you can play with you girlfriend/signiicant other/friends using a random word generator its always interesting to try and clue hard words in as few a clues as possible.

So many good options. "Time" was my first thought. Then "Gavel". But both those I thought theory could make better clues for, so I went with my third choice. Mafia never crossed my mind.

Eh, it's whatever pops into my head usually. I'll run through a mental list of possible clue's that spring to mind. If I think it's guessable in a single clue, I'll usually discard. Otherwise, I'll probably go with it. Often times if I happen to know an obscure clue that I think might work, but I don't think the other team will give, I'll choose the password as well (Take Glory, for example. I had no idea what Volt would offer as his clue, but I thought that Hallelujah would give theory a good chance at it).

Basically, as long as I don't think the Password is guessable in 1 clue, I'll consider it.
If I think it's guessable in 1, but needs an unusual clue, I might consider it as well.

Other than than, I aim for passwords that I think the sweetspot is 2 clues. Acorn, for example.

But mostly, it's whatever pops into my head.

I admittedly did not. I'm not that worried about synonyms because most words don't have something like pantofle and those that don't risk the 2 punch
