It's not just me being arbitrary, there's a very strict rule. It has a quality that the other rules did not have, which I think is what's confusing everyone.

So, "AB?" is "no" and "A B?" is "yes". Does that mean that spaces are somehow important?

Am I correct in saying that the "yes" or "no" can only depend on the text of the question, and cannot depend on other things such as the user who asked the question, the time of the question, or what question was asked before it? For example, no matter how many times this is asked, it should always be "yes":

A B?

How now brown cow?

At the beginning of the round, the Oracle invents a secret rule, completely mechanical, based on - and solely on - the exact wording of the questions asked. This rule will, given the exact wording of a question, tell the Oracle to reply either "Yes" or "No".

Are you satisfying this?

Also, are you satisfying this?

I believe that I am. It is mechanical and is solely based on the exact wording of the questions asked. If there was a FAQ for this game it would probably answer whether or not I am for sure, but I can't be more specific than that. Suffice it to say I believe I am following the rules.

Correct!

I thought it did. There's nothing saying that the questions can't refer to previous questions, and the rule itself is very simple. It's a mechanical rule that relies only on the questions. Just because it made people think a little differently to get the answer doesn't mean it's a wrong rule. Anyhow if I get to be the Oracle again I will definitely consider making rules in a similar vein again. I actually kept expecting someone to do something like this and was surprised when I was the first. Anyhow congrats you are now the Oracle.

In the original Zendo, rules may only refer to the pieces of the koan under consideration and the surface of the table, which is assumed to be infinite and featureless. This is "the Spock rule," since we should be able to build a koan here and beam it up to the Enterprise without in any way affecting its legality.

Anyway, question:

Captain, is that logical?

I'm fine with this, although... the issue I see is people pushing the boundary. I can't say for certain though.

I think the most important rule is that the rules be simple. If people do that then the boundaries probably won't be pushed too hard. Anyone who makes a rule that's too hard should be mercilessly mocked and shunned as the rules state. That'll be a deterrent for anyone who gets too imaginative.

PPE:
In the original Zendo, rules may only refer to the pieces of the koan under consideration and the surface of the table, which is assumed to be infinite and featureless. This is "the Spock rule," since we should be able to build a koan here and beam it up to the Enterprise without in any way affecting its legality.
I wasn't aware of that rule. It wasn't stated and I'd never encountered this game before. I did read the relevant section of the rules before crafting the rule, and thought it fell well within the bounds. If Axxle needs to clarify the rules he should include that there, though I (obviously) think the expanded playing field I was working with is more interesting.

Logical, is that captain?
