41 points in 14 turns for Vault/Lighthouse opening, BM with just 1 random Island? Really? Is there really nothing better here?

Nope, vault-bm is dominant for sure. Merchant ship would be my
2nd choice.

I can't seem to get nearly as good results when I try it myself, though. Example: http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201212/08/game-20121208-030505-faaca590.html

You want two vaults. Turn 4 should probably already be your second.

A vault can get some great results with best draws since with best draws you can discard all those green cards for coin. The simulator says that lighthouse and island are nice little improvements to a vault deck. You best response is probably to open island/silver and then play smithy or vault plus treasure.

Vault/BM is really good, but it's not THAT good. He had the best strategy and got lucky to boot. That usually leads to lopsided games.
